The plant will naturally preflower around the 5th-8th week of growth. You won't cause a hermie from preflowering. Hermies are genetic, and/or caused by stress.

There are a few techniques to keep plants short...LST, FIM, topping, search one of those methods and decide what you'd like to do.

If the plant has weak genetics it might...but force flowering is common..so go ahead and switch to 12/12, a hermie isn't common from force flowering, your just taking away some of the goodness from the bud's by not letting the plant fully mature.

You do realize the plants are going to increase in size by 2 or 3 times when you flower it out right?

Depends on strain really, my last grow the plants only grew 6" when i flowered them, but the buds filled out everywhere, but in general they do increase 2-3X

To be honest that defeats the purpose...once you've started 12/12, there's no going back, that could cause hermies for sure. The only time you want to revert back to veg is after you've harvested and you want to grow that plant again.

Stressing the plant causes the hermie effect. You can stress it by messing up the light really bad, cutting off fan leaves, and even taking clones in rare circumstances can cause it to hermie.

If you don't have enough room to let it grow bigger, you can manipulate it's growth by LST(Low Stress Training), Topping, or Fimming your plant causing it to go more bushy as suppose to growing taller.

Here is an example of what a FIM'd plant looks like and one that isn't.

The first pic is FIM'd and the second pic is not. Exactly the same strain planted at the same time. You can see the difference.

This is a link to an LST journal that I'm doing and you should get the jist of what to do from my thread. https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/135439-circular-lst-journal.html

the plant i lst'd(chemdog) i put back in veg at it's earliest signs of femininity and it's growin like a beast... i need to make clones first so... i mean it's not like i dont know what im doin i was really just wondering about stress making hermies

Theres no benefit from going 11/13. Might as well give your plants back their extra hour of light per day. 12/12 is the perfect amount of light/dark for flowering.

actually your wrong. its been proven that cutting back the hours of daylight gradually over the flowering period simulates winter because it replicates the shorteningof daylight. buds only grow in the dark so any way you look at it more darkness it better
