Official Gaia Green Grow Method

Does anyone grow in ProMix & Gaia Green??
I’m looking to try it for the first time.
I’ve completed 10-11 straight grows in Coco (Fox farms 70/30) amended w/ GG plus a few other dry organics & worm castings.
Honestly the grows have turned out pretty good, by my standards, but my last run, which is about to finish up, I’ve had a real problem with 1 of the 3 clones I’m growing.
They’re all different strains….2 of the 3 are business as usual. But the 3rd one, White Truffle x Okie 2, is struggling across the finish line.
Roughly 2 weeks ago I noticed some yellowing starting at the leaf tips and around the edges. It quickly escalated and now most the plant has some moderate burn along with an overall fade that’s not the usual “end of the run fade”….
For the life of me I can’t figure out what has caused this. It got the same treatment as the other 2 and every plant before. I’ve had some mild N toxicity and an occasional leaf tip turn yellow…..but nothing like this.
I will say that for a short stretch, the heat for higher than I would have liked……about a 4 day stretch. I say this b/c some of what’s occurring looks like light/heat stress.
But it also resembles a K deficiency, although I supplemented the GG w/ langebienite that was crushed into a more soluble powder form.
Did I give too much? Not enough? What gives?
So, having said all that, I’d like to try ProMix.
But I have a few questions:
-do you mix anything else with the ProMix, other than your dry organics and Ewc?
-when watering, what PH is most desirable and how do you judge when to water? I know ProMix should hold moisture longer but at what point do you draw the line?
- I assume you do not want any runoff when watering??
If anyone can give me some input on working with ProMix and/or what he’ll happening to my problem clone, I’d be most grateful.
pics are from earlier this week. I included a couple of the plants that haven’t caused me any trouble, plus one of the plants together so u can see the difference
By the way, growing under 2 HLG LEDs….a 320w and a 150w.
Thanks again folks. View attachment 5321036View attachment 5321037 View attachment 5321038View attachment 5321040
I use promix and Gaia green for years, works really good for me.any questions feel free to ask.
I also add a bit more dolomite lime, oyster shell flour, neem meal, and insect frass. Whatever I add of this I take away from the 4-4-4 I would put in.
I dont ph my water, thats one reason why i add extra lime and oyster shell.
dont water to run off. Water till almost run off then let dry out until its much lighter but you still want the soil to be slightly moist so that the microbes dont die off. You dont want any drooping at all or no good for microbes.

What size are your pots?

I find that if my plant is to big relative to my potsize that they hit a brick wall halfway through flower and start showing signs of deficiencies. Kinda like your yellowing. If you can topdress at the exact right times you might be able to stop it but its really hard I believe. My solution is to repot a few days or a week before you flip to flower. This gives them lots of new soil to use during stretch and start of budding. I still top dress early in flower to get roots used to the top dress. Now when the plants needs nutrients from the top dress it knows where to get it, and has roots already there.

Now when I do a flower run I simply take a clone from my dome put it in 2 gallons of my Gaia promix mixture and let it get used to pot for up to a week. Maybe even a little longer. Then switch to flower and top dress sometimes from day 1, then every 2-3 weeks until about week 5 or 6.
This method works great for me, would only work better with bigger pots.
For me I can get between 1 and 2 ounces per gallon of soil. Some strains I can get 3 and a couple times I hit almost 4

If you want to grow bigger plants, then you need much bigger pots. And your plants can't to too big relative to your pot or you will have all sorts of trouble.

Happy Growing :peace:

What about crushed langebeinite ? It comes in a granular form, which takes weeks to break down…..but I crush it into a powder form, which makes it a bit more water soluble.
I was thinking of brewing up a tea w/ worm castings, molasses and langebeinite.
I usually give that combo mid flower but didn’t do it this time.
Be cautious using sul po mag as a potassium source. It also brings a lot of magnesium which can cause issues if not accounted for.

So you are doing pretty quick runs flowering clones in 2 gal pots and getting 4-5 oz per plant?? That’s impressive. I’ll get 5-7oz in a 5 gal on average.
I get what you’re saying about needing big pots for big plants. I’ve always went from solo cups to 1 gal pots then to 5 gal to finish. I always seem to veg longer than planned once they go into the 5 gal though and I’m thinking maybe the root Zone is full before they start flowering….?
This last run I grew 3 clones, 2 of them were a little bigger and went into the 5 gal pots earlier, I was waiting on the 3rd to get a little bigger.
anyway, the 2 bigger ones vegged in the 5 gal for a month and the small one only vegged (in the 5gal) for maybe 12 days before I flipped.
I harvested today and the “small” plant ended up as the best one….in both yield and quality. It’s interesting that the one plant that went into the 5 gal the earliest and was the largest overall ended up with some sort of deficiency about 7 weeks in. It’s still outstanding but I bet the issues cost me some yield and maybe quality too. I dunno.
And they were busting out of my 2.5’ x 6’ grow closet.
I guess the lesson learned is to flip before they get too big in the 5gal.
pic is my best clone…..fruity pebbles og….it’s a clone from Trustfall and might be the chunkiest buds I’ve ever grown.

Probably because the two larger sucked up all the remaining nutrients available while the smaller one had an abundant for the flowering? Just thinking out of the box a little here.

my 15 plus years growing tells me its not late. I am not new to growing just 1st experience with this brand. thanks...
Hey there…do u mix your medium ahead of time? And if so, how long would u suggest?
Lastly, would there be any issues with mixing it and using it say 2-3 months later??
Thanks for Chiming in and sharing your experience.

OH man I mean lady you gotta do some sativa next grow. The buz is awesome for being active. LIke a 4 coffee high on a 2 coffee person. Time for a good workout or mow the yard thing vs couch interweb surfer nappy time lol. IF stretch time is a problem I got that figured out if you follow my posts. This place made a hell of a gardner so I am giving back my experience. I am old school now. real old. Heck I don't touch anything anymore like ph and setting water aside crap. just grow and smoke....

I don't see any problem? mixing ahead of time may allow some of the stuff in it to loose its power to grow and be just dirt. LEt's see if I can help.

My soil mix is ffoforest 3 parts and one part perlite with a heaping spoon full lime. mix. I use a gallon pot to mix as needed but hey use what you got. This mix does not need a thing more in nuts for 4 weeks of veg from seed to endish of veg. I get green as shit happy plants. hell I don't even check ph crap nuthin anymore and regular tap water when needed. by then with constant topping at a foot tall time to flower. I may add a veg spoon full seabird guano 12-12-2.5 for a week or 2 extra veg time before flower. Heck I can grow an entire grow with the seabird guano its the shit! Always looking to improve trying flower nuts in flower only with strain tests side by side seabird guano vs flower nuts. Yet to see any huge differences in final bud but gotta keep testing and looking for a holly grail of growing. cheers...

OH shit, almost forgot, I reuse soil at least 2 or 3 grows before throwing it in my flowerbeds in backyard and buy new. I add some lime and perlite at times. When reusing soild I do add seabird guano in veg a heaping spoon full every 2 to 3 weeks. hope that helps.... this gaia stuff will be my new experiment next...

I miss my seabird guano... big time, just ordered some yesterday, my last superfat buds was with the seabird shit in the soil too. I'd say your spot on with your routine there.

I usually aim for at least 2 ounces in a 2 gallon, sometimes I get more sometimes I get a little less. But once in a while a strain will yield 3 or 4 Oz.

It seems like what I think about the pot size was true. The older bigger ones did worse than the smaller one, because the smaller one had more fresh soil and nutrients for the stretch and start of flower.
Big established plants in a pot it has been in for awhile would always hit a wall for me around mid flower.
If you want bigger plants I would veg them nice and big in a 2 gallon than repot into a 5 gallon a week or so before flower and I bet you get really good results.

true. Seabird guano was out of stock when sunleaves sold and they stopped making it. Now its back of amazon in another brand 12-12-2.5 is nicely priced too. There are other seabird guanos I see on the market that don't work for me as well I avoid unless its close to 12-12-2.5. years ago I was seeing sunleaves kinda remember 10-10-10 kinda thing was great entire grow heaping spoon full every 2-3 weeks......

your on target but my experience and use is different. I go from styrofoam 32 oz cup seedling at about time its leaves get double wide the cup about week 2ish seedling to straight 5 gallon Air pot. Those Air pot are the shit! I did same strains side by side test 5 gallon pots of air pot, special bags not cheap and regular plant pots. Entire grow and yeild completely sold me on Air pots. They are expensive but reusable and plants love em. Easier to manage the grow with the holes add to the plants weight to know when full and ready to water with a lift of the pot. The sold not going back to anything else when yield added 25 percent min.....That can be an extra jar.

I just finished my grow of 3 clones. They were 3 different strains, which doesn’t really make it apples to apples but 2 of them were in fabric pots and the 3rd in an air pot.
The plant in the air pot ended up blowing away the other 2. These were all Trustfall clones and he’s one accomplished and thorough pheno finder…..all of his clones are A++…..so all 3 produced some great buds w/ insane trich coverage, but the one in the air pot grew healthier and the buds filled out noticeably better than the other 2.
Like I said, it’s not apples to apples but my next run will be 3 air pots.
