UV-B has not shown any worthwhile benefit to cannabis from a handfull of recent studies. None.

So please help me spread the word: UV-B increasing THC is bullshit.

These data support recent literature and lead us to conclude that an elevated flux of UV photons is not an effective approach to increase cannabinoid concentration in high-cannabinoid cultivars.

I have a UVB florescent light, having done some research into it before hand i think its main purpose is to increase terp % and certain other desirable reactions not related to thc. Theres a video on YouTube by Migro that's looks into a study about it if I remember.

hey boss man my bro has been using UV spectra for a long time and it does make your THC more potent and your plants smell better but the way that he has always used it is in the form of a vertical bare bulb setup with a 10k MH / 10k CMH heres something that a book im reading says
"UV light is divided into three bands—UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVB is critical to the development of THC. The potency of cannabis is dependent on the amount of UVB light it receives.
UVB light affects the potency of high-quality plants. The amount of cannabinoids and terpenes that a plant produces increases as it receives more UVB light."
i have seen t8 reptile UV bulbs but the UV wavelength in a t8 setup only penetrates 20 inches+/- according to bulb manufacturer. I have also seen those T5 HO UV bulbs on amazon but if a t8 light only penetrates 20 inches how much can a t5 HO penetrate? so honestly my 2 cents if you want to try utilizing UV in your grow space maybe try adding a 400w 10k MH or a 315w 10k CMH vertical bare bulb :) good luck with future grows boss man :)

All current science disagrees with your bro.

Share with him the science. He can stop wasting his time and spreading disproved rumors.

This UV-B belief is based off bunk research from 50 years ago, in the 1970s and 1980s.

The correlation of the ratio of ultraviolet (UV) light and increasing THC production is based on evidence of Small & Beckstead, 1973, who provided a phytocannabinoid profile of uniform plants grown outdoors in multiple regions. The UV-B irradiance level from each region was established and it was evident that higher levels of THC were observed from areas with higher levels of UV-B. Early research from Lydon et al., 1987 reported no significant physiological or morphological effect among UV-B treatments; however, the content of THC increased in both leaves and flowers in drug-type plants. However, this is in contrast with Rodriguez-Morrison et al. (2021b) who found that increasing UV-B radiation throughout an entire production cycle altered the secondary metabolite profile such that there was no enhancement of THC or CBD, yet there was a reduction of terpene concentration and suppresses cannabis yield in two cultivars. This suggests that UV-B radiation applied throughout an entire production cycle induced morphological changes that provided no commercial benefit. Fairbairn & Liebmann, 1974 evaluated no lighting influences on phytocannabinoid production by comparing greenhouse-grown plants supplemented with UV or HPS lamps. In another study, cannabis leaves were exposed to UV-C radiation to evaluate metabolite modifications (Marti et al., 2014). It was evident that there were significant increases in dehydrostilbenes, glycerophospholipids and cinnamic acid amides.

UV-B has limited effect (generally negative) on terpenes. Research UVR8.

I emailed with Mirgo a while ago, and he agrees. UV-B is bunk for cannabinoids in one of his recent videos. EDIT: and if he does say UVB increased terpenes in a postive way (all are increased) he's wrong.
