No hydro shop in my neck of the woods. Unfortunately. I rely mostly on amazon. Hopefully soon though it's freshly legalized here.

I remember a lot of people complaining a couple years ago the Promix was dirty and full of twigs. I got a few bales like that as well.
If I had to rate them, I would say the Berger BM6 is the most consistent well made product, Sunshine is right behind them and I have used too little of Lambert products to comment.



Try to find an agricultural supplier, they will destroy local retail and ganga shop prices. Professional growers could care less about stuff being geared towards cannabis cultivation. My local supplier hasn't carried Promix in years. They usually have Berger or Sunshine for around $25 per 3.8ft bale.

I've been using HP for about 15 years and bought 8 - 107L bales last spring and never found more than short little pieces of twig in any of them. the only time I remove those bits is when starting cutting or seeds in tiny pots otherwise they aren't an issue. I heard of a lot more complaints with soils like inconsistencies in strength of nutes and junk in them.

Still have 4 of those bales unused so might find some junk yet but probably not.

Sunshine #4 Yellow & Black bale seemed way less dirty than ProMix HP, in my experience.

I find that hard to believe. They are both mostly peat moss but HP has a lot more perlite in it. I haven't seen Sunshine Mix around here for years so maybe it's different than the #4 type I used to get until the local stores switched to ProMix HP.

ProMix was full of sticks and branches, still sometimes is. It really depends on region. Around here people quit buying happy frog because its like half wood chips.

That berger is too much money. I get promix bales for 22 bucks. Berger they want like $35-40 I personally don't use it because I dont like how boggy it is and messy. My drain pipes had to be snaked after running promix cause the 3/4" lines were practically clogged. With coco and the same Maxi fertilizer I have none of these issues.

I got a deal on 8 bales from my local Co-op @ $35Can each. I did buy a big bag of Canna coco just before the grow store in the city 2 hours away shut down.. Then the main hydro store went under so Grande Prairie has no hydro stores at all now. Nothing in Peace River which is just under an hour away.

Guess it's ProMix for life for me.

Ive run both promix bx and happy frog. Happy frog is loaded with sticks and bark, the 3 bales of promix ive used so far have been really nice fluffy peat. No sticks or bark.
Not saying you're wrong on that @calvin.m16 , just giving my experience.

Sucks when those shops shut down but it's really just a sign that the grow wave is kinda over, a lot of people here in the midwest shut down their grows entirely and you can go on fbmarketplace and see barn size rooms for sale with everything, also Zillow has a lot of houses listed where the barns and basements are weed grows.

Out Vancouver way the hydro industry and hundreds of grow ops called it quits. Hydro stores can't stay in business on what us hobby growers buy. They made the coin off the grow shows that would walk in, drop 100G on the counter and say, Set us up. Those guys are gone.

I'm only going to be doing one grow in the winter. Got two strains for this season lined up. A Seedsman 30:1 Cbd strain and one called Paonia Purple Paralyzer. Want to make fem seeds of both but not cross them. Both are regs so might make reg seeds as well. Maybe one little cross.

Lots of younger folks coming up every day so the home gardener won't go extinct.
