I read the first book and saw the first movie, no further. Somehow, it never captured me and I grew up reading all kinds of fantasy. But I know Michael Gambon. What an actor. He starred with Helen Mirren in The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, a nasty little art film by Peter Greenaway. Gruesome and delightful.
