I'm wondering if it's generally OK to germinate bag seed, and if female, take all way to flower?
I have 5 seeds, whats the expected male / female ratio

Only on Even numbered Tuesdays, but generally, yes. And taking them all the way to flower is the point. And then you have to try them to find out if they are any good.I'm wondering if it's generally OK to germinate bag seed, and if female, take all way to flower?

This was my experience . Some mid grade weed was around that looked like had been mishandled during/after harvest . The bud structure was very nice but the color and smell was kinda off . Turned out to be one of the best and easiest strains I ever grew , indoor and outdoor . Never knew the strain but it was very "Northern Lights'ish" . 20+ years ago .in rare ocasions your seed will be better than the one you smoked.because the breeder cut early, or didnt feed good. or the gene from her grandfather came in and it was something people looked for but didnt find it in the last round
I'm just now learning that an S1 seed and a seed made from a 'nanner are essentially the same thing. In one instance, you use a chemical to get the plant to produce some pollen -except that, since the plant is a female, the pollen it produces will only carry the female chromosome. In the other case, the female plant, itself, voluntarily produces some pollen due to stress or the genetic predisposition. So any plant that comes from those will be a feminized seed. I think it's pretty rare these days to have a bag seed that was made from the pollen of a male plant -unless maybe it was an outdoor grow that wasn't managed very well. I think bag seeds, today, are probably nearly all made from 'nanner-pollinated female plants. The complexity of the hybrid lineage of today's strains very likely carries with it some kind of predisposition for self-pollinating.
So to answer the OP...Yes you can grow bag seed and you will very likely get a female plant from it. Now, having said that, it may just end up carrying on and even magnifying the self-pollinating trait....Or, it might produce a purely female plant. You might get the best of all worlds....Or, you might get the worst. It might be like the flower it came from...Or, it might be something totally different.
Correct me if I am wrong. I am still learning.
looks like a nice base.strong cristals in the middle, little too much leaf production but beautiful leaf.shes got some fan leaf crystals but could be morePop em! I had a single seed I found in an ounce, and I grew it out.. was a nice sativa leaning, sour/sweet smelling beauty. I liked her smoke very much, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to keep her with all the other mothers I have. I did clone her and grow her inside as well a second time. She was a 12 weeker.

She was definitely a headache to trim. I won’t be running it again. The indoor run was the last of it. It was quite a surprise to get such nice smoke from a single shot in the dark. If I didn’t have a few breeder cuts I would have kept her. No nanners at all. She was a memorable one for sure.looks like a nice base.strong cristals in the middle, little too much leaf production but beautiful leaf.shes got some fan leaf crystals but could be more
cross it with a hashplant
