So finally here we go. 30+ year old seeds given to me from a good friend. Some of them I have no idea what they are and some I think have a good chance of being a Northern Lights I used to grow back around 1993. Thinking back (its been a long time) I remember thet NL were very indica dominant so I'm thinking they were not NL#5. I hope to find out. If these pop its going to be a super fun grow. Worst case I'll get to smoke the same genetics I smoked back in the day. Fingers crossed. Comment welcome.

Yea. I'm super excited about these. Was sitting around smoking with maybe my oldest friend talking about growing and how I wished I had kept some of my old NL seeds. It must have jared his memory and he told me he had saved seeds that he had kept in a filing cabinet through at least 5 moves and many years. We are not 100% sure but he never grew and there must have been a reason he saved those particular seeds. At that time we were a bit older (late 20s or 30) and we were pretty much only smoking the "kind bud" by then. So even if they are not my NL theres a good chance they were something good. The ones in the container are the ones I think are the NL. The others in the bag may very well be mixed bag seeds saved over the years. And then theres one seed in the small bag which I have a memory of him saving because it was the only seed he found in a 1/4oz of some fire from back then.

Not great, but kept in doors in the back of a dark filing cabinet in a leather pouch for the entire time. So I guess in the dark and not many temperature swings. So its a long shot but at least they werent abused.
They should pop might take a few wee tricks its the stage after they pop id say is more tricky with old seeds half them just grow to a point stall and give up it seems the ones that make it past that bit will be ok in my experience even if they grow weird for a bit they will grow out of it given time and care good luck with this one mate

Put them straight in water in a little cup or container and put 50/50 water and hydrogen peroxide and let them sit in the dark for 48 hours

Scuffed up in sandpaper tube
Soaked overnight in water and a dash of deluted Hydrogen peroxide.
and then paper towel method.
Temperature mid to upper 70s.

Day 7 and nothing yet. (first 8 seeds).
Gonna give it a few more days......and then try again if they havent popped.

They need heat, warm water you need to change the paper towel with fresh warm water everyday otherwise you get mould.

Don't give up on them! I had some 30+ year old seeds I'd labelled Hawaiian Sativa, ( actually on a piece of masking tape on one of those old black plastic film canisters, Haw. Sat.) Took about 3 - 4 weeks before they started to sprout and I got 4 out of 10. Ended up with some scrawny plants with equally scrawny buds that took 4 months to mature. Bag seed from the late 70s no doubt. Tasty stuff and likely pretty potent in it's day.

Wasn't really worth the effort but they still worked.

Good luck!
