Scotch Whisky / Bourbon Whiskey thread

Never was a Scotch drinker. Funny how the pricing is different depending on your state isn't it? The few bottles of Scotch I've collected were more of a too limited/too cheap to pass up. Our state is selling the 16 for $94.

Here's a few more stores that ship (at least to me with zero problems), Again email them

Edit: You might see if any of them have reviews in Facebook. There were some others (not above) that I decided not to order from because of bad reviews, usually delays in shipping or problems getting a refund. Sometimes their inventory systems aren't updated in a timely manner.

these are my open bottles, can you believe I paid $75 for that Talisker18? Of course that was 14-15 years ago, I opened it the day closed on my house 2017.

I’ve got a couple others I can’t bring myself to open: Laphroaig 15 (bottle prior to the discontinuation in 2009) and a Talisker Game of Thrones which retails for crazy prices.

I sip scotch, I drink Rye and Bourbon

"Five years ago, the National Institutes of Health abruptly pulled the plug on an ambitious study about the health effects of moderate drinking. The reason: The trial’s principal scientist and officials from the federal agency’s own alcohol division had solicited $60 million for the research from alcohol manufacturers, a conflict of interest and a violation of federal policy."

I'm bad about doing this, one or two drinks out of the bottle and moving on to the next one. Remember to store your spirit bottles upright unlike wines. Higher proofs will destroy real cork.

thought about getting this:

If you're not into bourbon so much, this is a pretty fair list in the $60 - $100 range.

The Rare Breed, Larceny and Elijah Craig barrel proof(s) are usually a good value for$. Weller green, kinda blah but gets hyped a lot. Never had Still Austin or Garrison. Noah's Mill is my favorite on this list followed by the Elijah Craig barrel proof. I would sneak in Old Grand Dad 114 somewhere. Nice list of better than average bourbons.

Four roses is underrated and not mentioned much. The single barrel is quite good for the price

Me too ! Why is that ? I was in a bar one day, and a fella was doing shots of Scotch. The bar-keep said, " I've never seen anybody do shots of scotch.
Ya love or hate that elixir. I was in Scotland a while back. Some of the gptop distillers said single malt was not their focus anymore. It was a clichhe, and that certain blends were the trend.
