If I was younger, but being retired I would hate to see the medical insurance premiums.
you like big ole flying confederate flags and racism? anti immigration?trump? you might wanna rethink that idea
This is what I'm saying about sensitive and important topics.
Its a funny regional joke, a "Newfie" joke here, or a racial slur, if you're a snowflake LOL. On this interweb thingy I think it's called 'trolling'... :-) Wish it was directed at me *sob*....Cheers Sunni
did you just call people a bunch of snowflakes ?

id you just call people a bunch of snowflakes ?
No just pointing out how peeps transpose their own actions on others, without considering others perspective. Like this statement: Because I like the color red, I'm accused of being a communist. Or "because I Hate Justin Trudeau, then I MUST be a Colonialist.
What do I think a snowflake is? A group of people, identified by behaviour, whom object to body contact in the NHL, and have never seen a whole hockey game in their lives. LOL

It was covered here a few months ago, I think you may have been in on it.
I am a believer in improving what you have, where you live, with your community' Knowing I will fight for Canadians right to self-determination, as an individual, I was generally comparing braindrain vs. to getting stuck in a one horse town discussion. I even compared modern day immigration (not refugees) to colonialism. It was quite interesting, its all back on this thread.
Travelling thru central Ontario, you see the results of some of the 'travel for work nomad philosophy' and homes as a financial commodity, these are generalities backing up my philosophy of make due with what you have in front of you, and grass isn't always greener life lessons, that's all. No data no specifics no links just discussion.
Huh? lol I guess you’ve lost me as far as travel for work :(. Again correct me if I’m wrong but it seems you’re saying we (Canadians) should not be allowed to travel to further our goals and should be happy with what we have where we are. What are the effects you witnessed? Also re your doctors being subsidized by 80%. Do you have the figures that quantify that? And all our post secondary education is subsidized (provincially) so if we limited doctors travel then everyone would be in that group.

"In reality, degree granting college and university students only pay about 25% of the cost of their education in Canada. According to Statistics Canada:"“…The proportion of revenues from tuition fees has grown from 23.5% in 2011/2012 to 26.6% in 2016/2017…” SOURCE

This ha been the case for decades and is a good reason to eliminate tuitions IMO.

I (again) BELIEVE people should stay where they were born, and improve the fantastic country they were born in.
I will fight to allow Canadians the freedom to follow their dreams, but I feel a Canadian born raised and educated in Canada, should give back instead of emigrating for personal growth. If a graduate leaves, before practicing here, how dos that benefit Canada? Immigration benefits the individual more than both of the societies affected by his movement. Its a matter of pride, not something for legislation. MOST recipients of university funding have to agree to practice in thee area the funding came from. Bursaries and such come with a hook already.
We should want to improve on the area we are from. It;s a matter of pride, and why should I subsidize someone elses kids education to have him practice in Buffalo NY. He can do what he wants he has his freedom, but we paid for it, and he's never coming back. Give me the benefit to Canada in that all-to-common scenario...

I beg you for money and I fuck off to FiJI and never pay it back, was that beneficial to you?

I train an apprentice for 5 years who quits after getting their licence, how did that benefit my company or me???

Would you let your parents wallow in poverty when they get older, would you pay them back for raising you?

My views come from these examples. One that always stuck in my mind is If able-bodied men flee their own home in face of war, do we really expect they will serve if Canada needs them to defend our home?? WOMEN and Children are 1 thing,

Do you have stats on how many education paid by the government emigrants to other countries? I would think there would not be a lot of people moving to countries lower down on the development scale. Canada has a long history of poaching people from other countries.

How To Immigrate To Canada As A Family Doctor
Although there were already many ways for family physicians to immigrate to Canada, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) added one more pathway for them in May.

That month, the IRCC changed Canada’s Express Entry system to allow it to target 82 jobs in healthcare, technology, trades, transport and agriculture starting this summer –including family physicians – and so opened the door to a new pathway to immigration for them.

The flagship Express Entry selection system had previously only conducted draws based on immigration programs, not by targeting specific occupations.

“Everywhere I go, I’ve heard loud and clear from employers across the country who are experiencing chronic labour shortages,” said then-Immigration Minister Sean Fraser.

OK I was getting nervous. I sent in the renewal for my grow license in August, phoned them today to see what gives. Was told it was approved four days ago. A four month wait, he said they had a backlog but are better now. We will see next year.

The company received less expensive labour for five years, and if they leave right after getting licensed - I suspect you got five years of being able to foist off all the less desirable work or treating someone like shit. It's not rocket surgery, when a situation is good people want to stay and leave when it's not.

No, but would be interesting.

I believe our personal freedom is far more important than that, and I'm not telling anyone what to do.

TOTALLY AGREE , but as Stats Canada points out. If you are a Canadian citizen, paying your own way is in question. So don't we at least owe our parents or our taxpayers a few hours of labour or tax money? Again, individual freedom is something that is paramount to ME, a HUMAN, we should all have the right to choose, within the laws of both countries. I'm not against any individuals right, want or need to migrate. The discourse is who benefits on the whole, the country or the individual. Its a about national pride or indebtedness as opposed to personal betterment by leaving.

Labour was entry level, same as yard kid, The employer and student probably got a wage incentive. Don't get me wrong mate, I sacrificed my time and productivity, and gave about 7 apprentices, the benefit of my Gov't subsidized college course (Yes I paid tuition an everything myself, but still realize it covers 25% of what the country puts into education) and ability to be their registered journeyman.
I believe in investing in our future and our youth, whether they choose to benefit me or my employer directly afterward is their free choice and my employers decision. I'm a non-union journeyman and a father, its my duty, and my payback to Canada.
Hopefully the opportunity they have due to proven work ethic, benefits our local industry and our country by having skilled millenials for businesses to hire, instead of importing. But, that is just a bonus, that aligns with my belief.

My opinions make people feel like shit sometimes, but I treat everyone with respect and forgiveness in the real-life world, when making their acquaintance, my boss? not so much, lol.

Do you really wanna know? and Which father?
Yes, I'm curious if you've given your beliefs some thought as to why they exist. You claim to be first generation Canadian, yet say people should stay where they're born. You wouldn't be here if your parents believed the same.

I was unaware that one could have more than one father. But then, I'm no dino.

possibly bio/adoptive; wild guess

There’s also a hit Taiwanese series called Two Fathers. They’re not gay. But in an instance of uncertain paternity they decided to work together and “dad up”.

yes that is pretty much correct. Now I've said that I'm first gen canadian, I have two dads... I will say that both Dads (1 is still alive) lived their entire lives within 25 miles of their birthplace. and I gained the knowledge of my (dna imprinted) cultural heritage at age 40 from both living donors. Quite a story to digest for me, but I'll share, if requested. Peeps can say whatever about me, but I'd rather talk about our opinions when exercising free speech. I'm not playing victim, just explaining myself. remember the historical debate where I compared the 'indefensible' colonial thing to foster care??? I don't identify as anything but a canadian voter here. And I had no help from a political/cultural group, or the Mormon Church...oops I mean Ancestry.cum to change what flag I fly.
