Not sure if hydrogen will ever be used in planes, but we'll know relatively soon how big of an impact in will make with Class 8 vehicles and reducing emissions with freight transportation. There is no doubt in my mind that hydrogen will play some kind of a role in reducing emissions, just not sure how big of a role it will be in the short term.

remains to be seen... raw material is free. Tech and material, get better over time. The knowledge is age old, the tech and materials catch up when concentrated on. I can buy a hydrogen powered small engine on Amazon and ride on buses powered by hydrogen today. Just a matter of scale and money.
Good, sensible change is not mandated to meaningless targets with no way to measure success while 'goals are met'.
I'd wait till after I'm gone to see hydrogen happen, and I'm willing to be taxed to see it start. Electric car, I'll wait. Do I expect ten years from a combustion engine? Yes, I'll wait.
When I was a young man, electric planes could not fly, earlier, concrete couldn't be made to float either. We can do this but we're being sidetracked by advertising and market controls. IMO

Wait till the transportation sector workers and fuel supply chain workers unite to voice our misgivings over the gasoline ban. Having another election is cheaper than reversing the harm done by this screwball legislation. No fuel for motion, no technicians for repair, just a queue on the Canadian gov't consumer hotline promising cleaner air while you freeze and starve.

So gas should be available until 2050, good. My 2016 car with 22k on it should be the last car I buy.

I feel similarly about my ‘13 Fit. It has 106k miles on it and but for some cosmetic wear, it runs like new and returns me “bragging rights” economy.I'm hoping my 2008 Saturn Vue is the last car I ever need to buy. Good chance it will outlive me.
I’m seriously hoping that more vehicles will follow the lead of the Aptera, on which I have a bit of a nerd crush. The next model with solid-state batteries and incrementally-better solar would be ideal for my lifestyle.

Always loved hotwheels and concept cars, but my reality with small efficient vehicles is this. 
Also why I feel the established world view to personal consumption and cost excesses (without the new doomsday philosophy) when it came to overcrowding the air with smog was
Motorcycles despite the seasonal drawbacks, we're hoped to proliferate in North America for a pretty damn good reason, ...but like electric cars, aren't a choice our society has made, for themselves for our people, as of yet.

I rode for 25 years. I’m too old, weak, shaky and half-blind to safely operate one.
And freezing rain? That would put me so far past fucked that the smell from fucked would take two minutes to reach me.
