Help Needed Using Bleach To Kill Root Rot

Hey there all you people using bleach. I need some advice . My system is RDWC and I am in week 3 of flower and I have a bad case of root rot. The chiller cuts in at 66F and brings the res down to to 65F. The pots are actually camping coolers so they hold the temp very good and the chiller is locally made and is normally used to keep water cool for holding lobster in small tanks. I've set the chiller to cut in at 65F and out at 64F. Not sure if that will help any, but did it anyway. The res is totally clean... can't see anything growing. I use Enzymes Komplete to keep everything clean and this worked. The roots were nice and white, when you first change the res you have to turn the air down in the res and also each pot, because for the first few hours it produces a lot of foam which is part of the cleaning process. This time I forgot to turn the air back up in the pots for probably 36 to 48 hours and that's all it needed. I started using 6% bleach at 16ppm. I used this calculator to get the 16ppm...

I used to use like 1.5ml/gallon of clorox when I did dwc. I use hth pool shock now though.

Thanks Hollatchaboy

I just finished changing the res and I upped the bleach to 30ml for 90L. I think that's close to what you had used. I started two days ago and today I can see a little white in all that brown. Hope it's not too little too late. The next two or three days should tell the tail.

Hi HydoDan
I have some pool shock, but I thought it would be easier to use the stuff you buy at the store because I would know the bleach percentage and have a better idea of what I was putting in.

@rkymtnman , told me this.....

"pool shock is super easy and cheap but the only thing is that you have to have a very accurate scale.

i add 0.30 grams per 10 gallons water which is 3ppm chlorine. i dosed it twice a week. they perked back up after that. and then i kept using it for the rest of the grow."

This is what I do now with dtw coco. Should work the same for dwc, but you might want to research that first. I don't wanna steer you wrong.

Thanks, I'll do a little looking around. I have a scale, but I'm not sure if it's accurate, Was only 30 bucks. When you say gallons... is it U.S. or Canadian, which I guess is actually Imperial gallons?

They talk a lot about the original mixture, but not much as time goes on. One guy said he puts some in every three days. I know with root rot the chlorine weakens quiet fast. I'm thinking that everyone does it a little different. I'll keep looking, but it may come to what my gut tells me lol

Sounds good man. Good luck.
