Months of work for nothing . All of it garbage

Just spent months tending to my first 4 plants . All garbage . Not a single freakin bud that looks good , smells good , related anything even similar to a dispensary bud . So much time and reading for all this just for junk . What a waste of my time. And the worst part I don't even know what I did wrong . I did it all by the text book . Maybe my light is too garbage to produce anything good.. tsw 2000 . Not a single nice bud that if I owned a dispensary i would put on the shelf . Pure loose leaf garbage smelling trash
.I give up. Here are some of the nicer buds in the bag . Top colas . Skittlez auto I'm literally fed up enough throw the entire garbage bag out and give up. It's all loose , smells like fucking hay . Just trash waste of my time ..almost the plants.. rntz made some nice buds but overall small . All flat, not dense , odorless

My first grow was so bad I don't think the gnarliest pothead on earth would have smoked it, let alone a dispensary shopper. I literally threw out the whole grow and started over. Second grow went SO much better. Just takes practice. Go again!

Sounds like the cure didn't go your way, and just from the look of the buds, they came down too early.

It's your first grow, harvest, and cure. I don't think anybody gets it right the first time. Take what you learned, and bring it to the next grow. If you're willing to keep growing and learning, it will pay off, and you will be proud of how far you've come.

That's about 3 years and 4 grows apart. It.wasnt a straight line, I fucked up along the way, and these gals weren't perfect, but if I stopped after grow #1, I'd have lost out on tons of amazing smoke and a wealth of knowledge.

Also, do not aim for “dispensary” quality buds! Just quality buds. A lot of dispo weed is testing with PGR which fattens buds but lack THC and terpenes. My flowers look nothing like dispo weed but smells and tastes WAY better than theirs! I would rather grow decent buds instead of paying for “high quality” dispensary weed! Which, in essence is why we grow our own… so we don’t make “the man” rich!

Autos produce good plants here and there, but generally 3 out of 5 ain't that good, don't smell great ect. I only grow autos because I have a veg room and veg lights on so might as well make some money off those lights. Try a photo grow of something at least 80% indica.

Also smell and potency can be from early harvest, loose and leafy can be stress and health, or just genetics period.

Grow them big and dense, tumble trim them, let them sit in a jar for a year, test them, push them out.

Things are getting better on the dispo scene, but it happens more than you think

If you smoke it, does it get you stoned? If it doesn't get you stoned then u are right, a waste..if it gets you stoned, then so what, weight is weight....for me and many others its the journey of learning and growing better plants each time that is the most rewarding.

The hay smell is from the water
You should let your water “ gas” off before use . It will go away with a good cure and the buds taste will also change.
There not the worst buds I’ve seen bud bit airy and maybe pulled early but don’t get put off it was only your first try. Like being a engineer your not going to know how to do this and that as well as you will after time and more experience.

It’s only a waste of time if you give up and didn’t learn anything. My first grow fucking sucked. I got less than an ounce per plant and it looked worse than yours. The next round, I got some more bad advice and nearly killed everything. It took me a few years to grow something I was proud of. You get out, what you put in. In the end it'll pay off.

You did not fail (failure only occurs when you quit trying)
Might take you 1/2/3/4 grows to really get the hang of it.
I really think the autos screwed with you tho, I remember my first full auto grow
Buds were absolutely trash
Autos to me seem like low grade cannabis more often then not, I'm sure some strains are straight fire but I really don't know as I have only grown a couple.

Bean hunt photoperiods, take clones of your favorites and then will know what youre working for, what to expect, etc.

I press rosin, not really smoke weed anymore and had to do this if I want to be impressed. I thought it would take forever but after my first 2 plants of that run, I already have what I want.

So I have a way better feeling throughout the grow knowing what to expect. The weed is great to smoke too, doesnt require much to smoke good. Smells and smokes great after dry.

the expectation that you'll get a homerun the first time you pick up a bat? really? i think changing your perspective on this will help you dust off and try again.
from your photos, you DID manage to get plants over the finish line. maybe it was too early of a harvest, and from the "hay" odor perhaps that was a drying/curing misstep.
my own perspective would be to look at what i DID DO right, and then try again and correct the mistakes.

They are if you use the right genetics. Eg your not going to get clone onky zkittles buds from some copy auto seeds. Something similar (especialy with expectations it should be the same) would only be posible using the clone only and also growing it right.
By the way nice buds, looks like you got your stuff on point.

I didn't even smoke Any of my first grow. That poor girl never really stood a chance. Like others before, it's only a waste if you give up. Otherwise you've learned something.

They are if you use the right genetics. Eg your not going to get clone onky zkittles buds from some copy auto seeds. Something similar (especialy with expectations it should be the same) would only be posible using the clone only and also growing it right.
By the way nice buds, looks like you got your stuff on point.

Definitely not considering you can't clone autos lol. You never know what you will get from seed. You could find a keeper in what you thought was your worst freebie pack before u find one from your paid packs.

Grow your 4 or 5, pick the best 1, clone that and grow 3 of them and pheno hunt 2 different strains with your last 2 spots. This way u will slowly find keepers and mostly have desirable bud.

My advice:

Find a grow journal in the style you like - and replicate what they do. When an experienced grower of that style gives you advice, follow it.

You can find your own way once you've learned a bit. It's like the old axiom: you have to know the rules in order to bend them.
