Hello,

I have a growmax super RO filter the water it filtered came out at 300ppm. This was quite confusing as I thought it was supposed to be 0.. my question is, can I grow in coco with this water or will I have issues?

I have never grown in coco before and I don't want to set myself up for any problems.

Any help appreciated

Something is seriously wrong with your RO filter. Ideally, you should be seeing single digits with a good filter. RO membranes become less effective over time and will degrade quickly if exposed to chlorine. The carbon filter upstream needs to be changed regularly to prevent chlorine from damaging the RO membrane.

300ppm is so high I must ask: Are you certain you're measuring the RO output and not the waste water?
I don't ask that to be condescending, I just did it myself recently.

No that's a good question, which brings up and important point, it doesn't seem to have one. It's for the garden and it's called the growmax super grow reverse osmosis water filter. It's for the garden and had a single input and output which is why I ordered it as it seemed easy to set up and use.

Added a pic of it. It says its reverse osmosis and it also says plug in and play on their YouTube video so I don't think I'm missing any set up steps.

Something's not right, that's just not how an RO filter works.
There's two paths for the water to take: water that makes it through the RO filter and the reject water that doesn't.

You're in the UK , is your water super hard?
Have you looked at your water report to see if you can just use straight tap water?

As others pointed out, that's not an RO filter and will have a negligible on EC/ppm.

The version with an RO filter (black horizontal canister):

So hard to find good quality people now days. I called up the shop and asked specifically about the item I was buying to confirm it was RO and he said yes..

I'm thankful that I have this site to call BS when they see it, thank you guys its appreciated as I seem to be a little too trusting.

Would this water at 300ppm be too strong for coco? Or should I look to replace it?

I cant remember the exact stats but we are considered to have the hardest water on the stats. I think like 600ppm from the tap but I will check again later.
