I have nearly a 100 orchids... be prepared for a lot of work and alot of work unless you go semi-hydro.

Also make sure to reseaurch orchids that are adaptable to your climate and humidity levels else these will involve more costs...

As most orchids do not grow in soil, I enjoy mounting them on driftwood etc... But I'd love to get a large piece of tree with a nice horizontal branch...

ANC, would love to see some pics. Could you start a journal on growing them. I have no clue how to grow them. I have had them giving to me, but could not keep the alive for more then a few months.

Your Sig Picture, what show is that guy from, its a comedy from canada right?

Hey man, unfortunatley I have my orchids on some other forums, and would hate anyone putting two and two together accidentaly...

The main problem you likely had is that you probably kept it in the pot you got it from in the store... And thereafter overwatered it...

Most orchids grow on trees and dry out completely in between waterings... Repotting in a bark medium you can get by watering once a week.... Always use the smallest pot that will fit the roots and maybe give space for a another year's roots.
This is becasue small pots dry out faster and breath easier, so there is less chance of root rot.

Same as with other plants, water in the morning to allow the leaves to dry out in the heat of the day... avoid watering the leaves (you can mist them), watering at night leads to fungal and viral infections.
Nutes have to be applied on about 1/4 or 1/5th of the regular strenght you use... and have to be flushed out with a good watering ocasionaly to avoid nute burns on the leave tips.

The other popular metohod is semi-hydro or sometimes calles SH... google it... it allows much more hands off enjoyment, and you can actualy go on holiday etc...

I finally took them out of there tray, and planted in soil. Then threw them in the Veg room. Will post more pics later.

Cayenne Pepper
Jalapeno Pepper
Poblano Pepper
Bell Pepper

Can't wait to clone them and put them into Hydro Flower room.

Hellz yea man. I need that more then anything with my back pain and migraines and stress in this economy. Well, not really, but it sure does make me feel good.

Peppers , garlic and onions are all good detterents, I would go for garlic... so hard to get a good one in the shop, they require realy perfect attention like you can do in a grow room.

Should I buy seeds, or use cloves from the fridge? Last year I had some sprouting in the fridge and tried to grow them. All went well until they got to around 3-4 inches a d they would die.

Google is your friend just look up some garlic culture tips... ones that overwintered from last year would be ideal... but there are easy ways to prepare fresher ones as you will find out.

What kind of Starting system are you using here? The square white cells for Rockwool?

I would order some bulbs from a GOOD online Garlic store and plant thoses. I plant Garlic every year, and have fairly good luck with them.

I just bought the seeds at home depot/hydro shop and planted them in a humidome with a heat matt, ph at 5.7 with some superthrive and slowly bring the ph up to 6.3 with light nutes, then moved them into the veg room with the 400w mh. Used an 8 bulb t5 with mostly grow spectrum! It's a good method that works for me...

Also used a rock wool to start the seeds out.

I can't seem to keep the new pepper plants from flowering. Only feeding grow juice, 18/6 on the lights! I have 3 pepper plants with 1-5 flowers and there only 4 inches tall!

On the plus side, 3 out of 4 serrano close we are showing roots!

how long did those peppers take...? mine finaly germinated after about 2 weeks...
I don't eat em but my wife loves em.

With my other veggies like cucumbers etc.. I noticed heavy flowering on days after fertilising with seaweed extract...

I might have seaweed in my fox farm nutes that could trigger it. I just don't see how a 4 inch bell pepper is going to support it self. Might have to stick and tie them to hold. I was really wanting them to get bigger in the veg cycle to use them and mums to clone. There very easy to clone. Well, I think I am going to continue to feed them on a veg cycle cause I need them larger to take clippings.
