Judge threatens to kick Trump out of court
A New York federal judge threatened to kick former President Trump out of his courtroom for being “disruptive” during a trial proceeding Wednesday determining how much he owes writer E. Jean Carroll for defaming her after she alleged he raped her.

“Mr. Trump has the right to be present here. That right can be forfeited and it can be forfeited if he is disruptive, which what has been reported to me consists of. And if he disregards court orders, Mr. Trump, I hope I don’t have to consider excluding you from the trial,” U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan said Wednesday, according to CNN.

“I understand you’re probably eager for me to do that,” the judge continued.

“I would love it,” Trump replied, according to several outlets.

“I know you would,” Kaplan said back. “You just can’t control yourself in this circumstance, apparently.”

“You can’t either,” Trump muttered, according to the Associated Press.

The judge’s warning to Trump followed a complaint from Carroll’s lawyer that Trump disregarded orders from the judge to “keep his voice down” and had continued making comments about the case audible to jurors, including that the trial is a “witch hunt” and “con job.”

Earlier in the day, Trump had made comments insinuating that Carroll was lying about her assault and that she seemed to have “gotten her memory back,” according to Carroll lawyer Shawn Crowley.

Carroll has claimed that Trump forced himself on her in a luxury department store dressing room after a chance meeting in 1996. After she told the story publicly in a 2019 memoir, he publicly undercut her honesty and motive for coming forward, she says.

Trump has denied wrongdoing, saying he never met her and that nothing happened between them.

A previous trial in the case occurred last May, when a jury determined Trump did sexually abuse and defame Carroll but that the columnist had not proven her claim that the former president raped her. Trump did not attend that trial, which ended with Carroll being awarded $5 million in damages.

Now, Carroll is seeking some $10 million in compensatory damages and millions more in punitive damages.

Trump has used his legal battles to better his standing in the GOP presidential primary. During his months-long fraud trial, also in New York, the former president made frequent stump speeches from the courthouse hallways and fundraised off his presence there. He also butted heads with the judge in that case, whom he decried as “Trump hating” and politically biased against him.

Trump coasted to a victory in the Iowa caucuses this week and heads to next week’s New Hampshire primary as the favorite. He’s also edging out President Biden in various national polls.

Trump knocks judge for not delaying E. Jean Carroll trial for Melania’s mother’s funeral
Former President Trump said the federal judge overseeing his defamation case with writer E. Jean Carroll was “abusive” for not delaying the trial so that the former president could attend his mother-in-law’s funeral.

“Now, because I want to be at this Witch Hunt 100% of the time and watch what is going on, my attorneys asked the Judge for a one day delay so that I can attend the funeral of my beloved mother-in-law, with my wife and entire family, tomorrow in Palm Beach, Florida…,” he wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.

“The Judge, angrily, and somewhat surprisingly, said NO, you can go to the trial, or you can go to the funeral, but not both. He is abusive, rude, and obviously not impartial but, that’s the way this crooked system works!” Trump wrote in a second post.

The trial to determine how much Trump owes in defamation damages to Carroll began on Tuesday this week. The former president said in the Truth Social post he feels an “obligation” to attend the trial “because we have a seething and hostile Clinton-appointed Judge, Lewis Kaplan, who suffers from a major case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

After the death of his mother-in-law, Trump’s attorney asked the court to adjourn the trial for one week so that the former president could travel with his family and attend the funeral on Jan. 17 and Jan. 18.

U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan denied the request last week, saying in a memorandum on Sunday that a delay would disrupt the operations of the court. He added that Trump was “free to attend the funeral, the trial or both.”

Kaplan also said if Trump’s defense team is done presenting their case on Thursday except his testimony, the court will pause the trial until the following Monday to allow Trump to attend the funeral.

His rant on social media attacking the judge comes after Kaplan threatened to kick Trump out of the courtroom for being “disruptive” during the trial on Wednesday.

In a series of posts, Trump continued to attack Kaplan over his handling of the case, calling the judge “totally biased and hostile.” He echoed his familiar cries of the case being “rigged” against him because he is the leading Republican presidential candidate in the race.

He also said that Kaplan should have recused himself from the case and also attacked Carroll again for her allegations against him. Carroll is seeking at least $10 million in damages for Trump’s denials when she came forward publicly in 2019 with her claims that he allegedly sexually assaulted her in a department store dressing room in 1996.

“I did nothing wrong, except defend myself from false, malicious, and defamatory accusations by somebody writing a book, and deciding to put this fake nonsense into it, probably for the publicity she would get. She was not damaged, I am the one who was damaged. It is impossible for me to get a fair trial in front of this Judge,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

It’s about time he took a serious contempt hit for this endless persecution yammering in which he defames the plaintiff, the judge, the justice system, and anybody or anything that stands in the way of his incessant claims of complete innocence, indeed virtue misrepresented.

I’m all for thoughtful and deliberate proceedings in order not to squander a case on a technicality. However in my legally uneducated opinion, would an ordinary defendant be given this extreme leeway? If not, why not? His continued disregard for the judicial strictures placed on his Niagara of libel harms the concept of equality before the law.

Basically I’m venting. My frustration is not founded on knowledge of federal and state law. But watching him spew the usual venom without consequence gripes my liver.

It will almost be like a doppler effect as Donld falls fast towards us, higher in pitch and volume as he approaches, reaching a peak as he passes by, then dropping off and fading away as he continues his plunge into the abyss... Think of a freight train passing by.

I hope one of these multitude of judges he's yet to face puts his ass to the grindstone and jails him on contempt,I'm SOOOO tired of his nothing pertains to me act, from his NY days to the Oval office and now American justice systems, has this MOFO ever paid the price? I'd LOVE for him to spend ONE month in a prison general pop.(know it won't happen) and see him get punked over jail house hierarchy. This spoiled ass brat has made it to almost 80 dodging any semblance of life lessons.
