The Long March to 11/24

The republican party planted the seeds of its own destruction decades ago and increasingly attracted racists and radicals. What was subtle and slow quickened in pace when Obama came to power and racists began to take more of an interest in politics and it became the thing not spoken about, every other "reason" but not too direct. Then came Trump and drove the decent patriotic people out of the party or side lined them. He offered the full-strength stuff, the big lie and the big con strongman stuff and they were under attack and needed a strong leader! His grift was better than Mitch's and Carl Rove's and he stole the party right out from under them as many with some sense left went independent. He also attracted new morons and miscreants to the party while driving out the good people. He owns the republican party, indictments, court cases and all and they know they are a shrinking white majority, and he is fucking crazy and desperate enough to give them what they really want deep down inside. Democracy itself takes second or even third place when compared to the imagined grievance of white America.
A friendly reminder that you are ranting again.

Ok not the most important issue, and generally speaking I think it shouldn’t matter, but what is up with Haley’s outfit? Is that her first RL sweater, doesn’t she know they shrink af when you wash them. Look at the proportion of the lower band compared to the rest. That was a large model and now looks like she stole it from a skinny kid. As well as his shoes.

At least she had black friends. It’s true, she said so herself:

Would be funny if some investigative journalists would try and locate one of those black friends Haley had. You reading this Netflix, “Nikki Haley’s Black Friends”.

Her outfit is 100x classier than what Boebs or Gan think is ok for being seen in public.

Then again 100x zero is GOP math at its roots.

I generally don't comment too much on fashion statements, except for fur hats with horns in the capitol of course. If the democrats win in November, they should pass a resolution to make any republican who was a party to the insurrection wear the horned hat while on the house floor! Metaphorically speaking all republicans wear the horned hat along with the MAGA red one. If Trump is disqualified though, it means there was an insurrection and grounds for disqualifying those who gave aid and comfort on video, that includes a lot of elected republicans federally and in the states...

Let's have a debate!
Trump says he’d beat Haley in a cognitive test
Former President Trump said he would score higher on a cognitive test than GOP challenger Nikki Haley, who has seized on a series of gaffes by Trump to criticize his age ahead of New Hampshire’s crucial primary on Tuesday.

In an interview with Fox News’s Martha McCallum, Trump claimed he would beat Haley in a cognitive test after being asked about her criticism of his recent verbal miscues. Haley has also repeatedly called for mental competency tests for politicians aged 75 and older in her campaign for the White House. Trump is 77; Haley is 52.

“Well, I think I’m a lot sharper than her. I would do this: I would sit down right now and take an aptitude test and it would be my result against her result, and she’s not going to win, not gonna even come close to winning,” he said in the interview.

Trump went on to repeat his claims that he has aced two cognitive tests, including one during his time in office and another he took more “recently.”

“I aced it twice. I aced it. But I would say that, you know, I’ve actually called for a cognitive test for anybody running for president because I actually think that’s a good idea. It’d be nice to have an intelligent person be president,” he said.

Trump has bragged about the results of the cognitive test he took in 2018 with former White House physician Ronnie Jackson, who told reporters at the time Trump answered every question correctly on the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which is a test to detect mild cognitive impairment or the onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

In recent days, Haley and President Biden have criticized Trump over his recent gaffes, including when he appeared to confuse Haley with former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) in a campaign event last week.

Both Trump and Biden have faced questions over their age and mental fitness as the two of them face a likely rematch of 2020 in November’s general election. Haley has repeatedly called for a generational change when campaigning against the former president.

Trump couldn't beat your cat in a cognitive test and the cat is more likeable!

A dozen or so high-level Trump officials endorsing Biden and testify against Trump in public as a group, it might make a difference. Call them out, silence is complicity.

A call for former high-level Trump appointees to speak out

The Republican Accountability Project's Sarah Longwell joins Morning Joe to discuss what several of Trump's former high-level appointees are warning about a second term for Trump and why she says those former appointees need to keep speaking out.

The Democratic National Committee won’t count the results here toward convention delegates. But they show that Biden is running headlong toward a rematch with Trump.

And perhaps more importantly, the outcome demonstrated this: For all of the hand-wringing about Biden’s weak approval ratings and polls showing him trailing Trump in a general election — and despite all of the anger here about Biden’s attempt to reorder the primary calendar — Democrats were still willing to rally behind him when it mattered.

“The Republican Party has been taken over by Trumpers,” said Kathy Sullivan, a longtime Democratic operative who worked on the pro-Biden super PAC in New Hampshire. “So, yeah, I think you’re going to see a lot more energy, a lot more interest from the Democratic base to get out there and elect Joe Biden.”

The SCOTUS makes the calls on Trump and this election, we await their wisdom.

It would likely end up that those who would vote for Trump would vote for RFK or any of the others, if Trump were disqualified or convicted and looking at prison time. If he somehow doesn't end up the GOP nominee, he will still syphon off votes from them, just as he is now taking a lot of their small donor money.

I don't much care for the Lincoln Project's vids but it's good to see that they are getting this message out. It's not fear mongering, it's a simple fact.

It's also another reason why the president should be elected by a national majority vote. That said, I believe that it's Biden's job to win, not just to do a good job. If a 3rd party candidate should run, Biden has to beat them too. We can't change the process now, so electoral college it is. Winning through that process is Joe Biden's job #1.
