I'm getting away from all those garbage, crap on, non oscillating, floppy, piss poor designed rip off fans geared words taking your money every 9 months. I'm going back to suspending box fans over my lights pointing down. They last forever. Especially when you hang them that way, there is no stress on the motor bearing. When I took my set up down in 2012, I was using the same box fan for 9 years at that point. Guess which one is hanging in my tent in 2024.

I had one of the vivosun fans quit oscillating on me and I now have a second one making some noise and every once in a while, it slips. I'm still happy with them, but mainly because they were $free.99. I believe I have 4 of them currently running and still have 2 or 3 backups in the box.
I do think that when you mount them, if you keep the fans vertical and don't hang them down at an angle, they seem to run smoother which would lead me to believe that is also less wear n tear on them. Meaning that the fan part is perpendicular to the ground and blows horizontally across the tent.

FWIW, I'm a yard/garage sale junky in the Spring and Summer and always on the look out for older metal bladed 20" box fans. They will move a lot more air than the newer ones.
