How do I D.W.C. with E.C.?

No. They are seperate from each other.
Big pain with stand alone 5 gal pails is they really only hold maybe 16L/4gal of water and need constant care and topping up once plants get big. The short Rubbermaid tubs hold 35L/8.5gal an inch below the bottom of the net pots and I always topped up with RO water once every 3 days then checked ppm and added small amounts of nutes to bring it back up to my target ppm. The taller tubs hold 50L/12.5gal. As I used AN 3- part nutes with pH Perfect tech I never had to even think about pH and could go the whole grow without ever changing nutes. I tried that in a side-by-side grow and got just as good results as the one I changed 3 times. Once at the flip to flower, again after the stretch then again a couple weeks before the chop. There was virtually no difference in growth or yields and it saves so much time and money. Less work and more spare cash = happy OMU. :)

There is no real reason to change nutes from start to the time you want to flip to flower. You just check ppm and add more of all nutes in small amounts to maintain a target ppm or raise it as the plants get larger and are using more.

The last 3 years or so I've been farting around trying to grow organic using nutes like 3 different types of manure and Gaia Green dry nutes with ProMix HP as my base. Much less than spectacular results so will be just using the AN nutes in ProMix. That I know works well for me and is really easy. The wife can use all that other stuff out in the veggy garden.

I really appreciate all of the information that you are providing me. It is nice to know all the information on the Rubbermaid tubs, as I may decide to upgrade later. Also, I appreciate the information on the nutes.

I have been using Promix and Remo nutrients for the last 5 years. However, I recently purchased my DWC system. I am just starting my second grow in them, and my first E.C. grow. Honestly, I learned about E.C. about 3 days ago. I am looking forward to seeing the results.

This is the result. I have tested the spigot, and it both seals and works well. I attached photos so that everyone can see the final product. One to show the open spigot, one of the close spigot, and one of the attached spigot. 20240208_133058.jpg20240208_133111.jpg20240208_133130.jpg

I didn't real eye you were going to add the spigots on the bottom flat side of the buckets, where they will actually seal up nice and stay out of the direct light. Also assuming you'll raise the bucket, so you can fully drain. I love being showed up. Good idea!

There would be no issues using white spigots on the side either. The plastic is so thick that not enough like would get through to cause algae growth.

I did about 50 tubs from 2001 - 2020 using HID lights up to 1000W and never put anything over the exposed lid surface even at the start when the leaves from clones didn't even reach across the net pots much less shade the lids from the light. I've use ones that are blue or grey and never had algae in the nutes. The main way to prevent algae or root rot is either chill your nutes to 65-68F or use low levels of peroxide or chlorine to keep the tank sterile.

I always rooted my clones in soilless medium. In the first few years it was Sunshine Mix #4 with added perlite but then switched to ProMix HP when the Sunshine was no longer stocked locally and they brought in the HP. The only two times I ever got root rot was when I used clones that had been rooted in medium that had real soil in it. Both times I beat it back with heavy doses of 35% peroxide with no noticeable loss of yield.

The last 10 or so tubs worth I used a DIY chiller I made out of an old gifted water cooler with no peroxide used and had no rot show up.
