I always do 24/0. Although I've experimented with 18/6 as well. I prefer the results of 24/0. The plants mature faster and stay shorter/bushier. During dark periods, plants will stretch in search for light. With NO dark period, they don't need to stretch. They stay shorter and can grow outward rather than upward.

Some people believe that a dark period is good for root growth... or that plants need "rest". Those are myths. I did an experiment with both 24/0 and 18/6. All other conditions were the same... and the strain was the same. The plants grown on 24/0 were healthier, matured faster and the yield was much higher.

loada bollocks! plants that recieve there sleep are much healthier! it is not only improtant to photosynthesis but to root growth aswell, plants roots grow in the dark, when the plant sleeps at night it allows the plant to concentrate on root growth and not upward growth! the plants on 18/6 will grow faster, more vibrant and increased yields due to a happy and explosive root system! Lets explain why a dark period is important, that way people are not confused as to why they do or don't want to introduce one. During the day, a plant does a few things. She uses photosynthesis to convert CO2 and light into energy, she stores extra energy for use later, and she pulls necessary nutrients from the soil (or water in hydro). While it she doing all of this, she is also converting energy and nutrients into plant mass (i.e. vegging) throughout the day. During the night, your girls are using the stored energy from the daytime to grow. Its not that your plant "needs" a dark cycle for proper growth, its that she is using 100% of her time and energy on building plant mass, not splitting it between growing and photosynthesizing.

i was told if you do 18/6 it shows the sex quicker than if you have 24/0. i have 24/0 right now, and am going to switch to 18/6 this weekend, my first serious grow
