We're heavily plant-based as it is. I've only eaten meat of late due to the fact that it has no carbs. If the shit hit the fan...we might be able to figure out how to carve up a meal but it's been years since I even cleaned a fish...LOL. I know some folks can't do without....so if we were themz....the fare would/could be...

Mice, chipmunk, Colorado Wood Rat, Trout, Stellar Jay, Squirrel, Ermine, Crow, Hawk(s), Vultures, Mink, Fox, Turkey, Deer, Mountain Lion, Bear.

LOL about the old folks not putting up much a a fight. Maybe up there....but here in the boonies where the Sheriff is 20 minutes away....they are all heavily armed and locked and loaded. :D
No guns here. Defenseless and delicious.

Yup no babies. Mostly old people getting away from city life and farmers. Cell phone and internet service can get sporadic and no TV channels over the air here so no young tender ones either.
I have an over the air TV antenna on the side of my garage. Kids next door knocked it off line and my reception turned to shit until I figured it out. They were targeting it with a sportsball. Next time, either I tell the parents or they go in the pot!

We were just like that (unarmed/delicious and sweet from the sugar stored in our blood cells) until last year when an OAF 80's couple on the next road over from us were beaten to death with their own fireplace tools in their living room. After the event, the guy (30's) who did it was at large for months on end.

Now we're not defenseless.

Very cool to see the differences in set ups/systems. I first notice that everything on your system is outside/exposed to the elements. No freezing temps there? If not...how deep is your service line? All of my system is in my mechanical room in the house. (and my house is damn small)

My well is easily that far away from my house....and get this...my service line goes UNDER my creek. Yup. My service line here is about 5 ft deep min. Never had any trouble with freeze but wow is the water cold in Winter.

That constant pressure unit would be sweet. Would love to hear more/how it works if you make the jump!
We do get some freezing temps where i’m at in NorCal. I’m only at 343’ elevation. Those big pipes down at the well don’t freeze up. Def a good idea to insulate skinnier pipes coming out of the ground, which I’ve done. The 2” pipe from the well, feeding the house and other locations, is down around 16” top of pipe. Although it’s not ideal to not have everything covered up, i would say about 50% of the people around here have it exposed. I will be building a pump house once i reconfigure the plumbing. Hopefully this summer.

FYI - I had one of those bladder tanks succumb to the weather and only last one year. New ones are still going after 5 years, once in put them under a roof.
