I use one part Megacrop dry nutes. about a Tsp/gal.

Have you been watching @J2M3S's Gorilla Glue #4 grow journal. I'm fascinated by it. He's also using megacrop, with tap water, no PH or EC testing and his grow looks fantastic. I like that level of keep it simple.

I check pH because the tap water comes from different wells and it depends on which one is more active as to the pH, it varies greatly.

Exactly.
The Walmart stuff just has peat, coco, perlite, dolomitic lime and myco.
I think the coco makes it a moisture potting mix. Nothing that a sack of perlite won't fix.

Well I'm embarrassed. I went back and looked at the ingredients in my Pro-mix and there is indeed a "wetting agent" listed. No idea what it is.

Peat is always slightly hydrophobic. A mild surfactant added to it breaks the water's surface tension on contact so it enters the medium and wets it.

And I saw that Canadian formulations contain coco instead of the water retention polymer which is U.S.only.

It’s not dissimilar to FFOF as far as base ingredients.

Promix BX, Coast of Maine lobster compost, ewc and extra perlite.

I've also had good results with BX, Coast of Maine raised garden bed mix and added perlite.

I've been thinking about doing dtw also. I'd probably just go straight BX then
