I stand slightly corrected folks - turns out that Mrs. S. will do a pattern on linen but she still prefers the 14 or 18 count Aida cloth with the more defined holes. The one item that she wanted to show cause we are both proud of completing ...... I'd love to see some of her work ...
That is no small feat. My mother used to cross stitch and it’s such an intricate skill. Bravo to you and Mrs. S!There have been a total of nine (9) of these stockings completed starting in 2006

It is a pretty substantial design with the pattern on a page that is 17" x 14" when it's unfolded. It was roughly the size of one of those smaller city street maps.
Yes kids - back in the day, we had to actually fold physical paper maps and put them away in the glove box. Anyway ...
There have been a total of nine (9) of these stockings completed starting in 2006. I have completely stitched 3 of these stockings and I started on a 4th. But due to a shitload of OT and overnight on-call starting in early 2009, I ran out of juice for any more stitching and Mrs. S. had to complete #4. She has since done #'s 5 to 9.
Oh good idea Jeff ... do a redesign of the pattern with big fat colas instead of berries.... Why do I get the feeling them Berry leaves were a compromise ...
Gracias mucho, Senor Chiz. Mrs. S. was able to learn me all of them l'il intricacies of good x-stitching. Proper tension of the stitch, consistent cross direction, clean hands, stuff like that. It was easy to get good myself with having such a great teacher at the other end of the couch. When we were first married, we would sometimes stay up to 3:30 AM many a Friday and/or Saturday nights just stitching.... That is no small feat. Aunt Audrey did this from a photo. Used some sort of software. Not our dog but it hangs in our entrance.Gracias mucho, Senor Chiz. I have always been proudest of all of my cats. In that time when we both stitched like rabbits, I cross stitched 16 patterns of a bunch of breeds of cats - Burmese, Abyssinian, Siamese, Russian Blue - and gave them away as gifts. My sisters were also moving out and they needed pictures for their bare walls. These patterns were great in an 11 x 14 frame with a border.
But I kept the Maine Coone for myself:

That is a pretty hard pattern. There are lots of little strands of colours as opposed to the larger blocks. With patterns like that. you can spend a fair bit of the time verifying your counting. I find the larger blocks are easier to count accurately.... Aunt Audrey did this from a photo ...
5-0 now and this Jays team looks entirely disinterested in the sport of baseball let alone this game. Enjoy that cone! Time much better spentinstead of wasting time and brain cells on my ball team who are losing 3-0 to the White Sox in the top of the 8th.
I truly did ...... Enjoy that cone! ..
Oh you can put it on the board ... YES!... Time much better spent ...
The rest of the league has figured out how to pitch to those who we hoped were going to be the future - and get them out. So now those individuals have to adjust to the rest of the league and get hits more consistently. The rest of the league is clearly winning. We are seeing way too many of those weak assed outs this year and that is demoralizing them. Oh well ... what do we like to say here about our pro sports teams?... 5-0 now and this Jays team looks entirely disinterested in the sport of baseball let alone this game ...
I'm certain you'll enjoy that.My trimmer finally came! Got a refund from the first, and immediately ordered another. I received the notice that it was delivered, opened my front door, and there was a police SUV parked right there. I got my mail, picked up the box, and brought them inside. I looked out the window 20 minutes later and they were still there. Then I realized that if the police wanted me for something, they probably wouldn't park directly in front of my house. So I opened my package -
This thing is heavy and really well built -

Glad I don't have to harvest for another 2 weeks, but trimming should be more tolerable from now on...
