( Busily checks local listings ... )... Rise and shine, ya lazybones!!! 4 day week this week (check local listings) ...
I made the decision this weekend that I'll be telling my boss this week some time that I'm going to start looking for new work starting July 1. I have a feeling this week is going to go fast and I'm gonna have to tell him sooner than I care to. LolThe week’s almost over at this point!! Chop, chop!

Why tell until you have something lined up? Can't he just hire 3 badgers in a trenchcoat to replace you?I made the decision this weekend that I'll be telling my boss this week some time that I'm going to start looking for new work starting July 1. On the professional level, that would be the move, however, I work with/for my best friend and have for 19 years. Our work load is specialized and 14-16 weeks out from contract to installation. So work comes in with the expectation that I will be doing the fabrication and all that good stuff. So, I will give him some notice to make any adjustments that need to be done to account for me not being there as a friend. If shit changes or he decides to be a dick, I will then start looking immediately and that plan goes out thee window. Why tell until you have something lined up? Oh, that makes a big difference. I've only had 2 real jobs in my life. The last time I gave notice my boss couldn't hide her resentment. A tiresome few weeks. Previous position was federal, far fewer 'personalities' to deal with.On the professional level, that would be the move, however, I work with/for my best friend and have for 19 years. TLDR: I agree professionally that I don't owe anything to the machine, but I refuse to not make an effort to not leave a friend hanging.
Why the move? I'm pretty sure we did similar things. I had to change gears myself back in the fall.I made the decision this weekend that I'll be telling my boss this week some time that I'm going to start looking for new work starting July 1. I did ...... You said hole smash ...
I make peanuts for pay. I've always had enough and been content (not necessarily complacent) with what I had. With the economy and shit, this is the first year that I could really feel the squeeze. Having the 2nd kid graduate high school was a big reality check/eye opener as well. Had I not picked up this wonderful hobby of growing and selling off a couple eighths a week and several zips, I'd be in a serious financial deficit. Moreso than my typical check to check life in mediocrity. Lol. The older I get and the closer to hopefully being able to retire, I realize that I should really start planning for that. Better late than never. Why the move? I'm pretty sure we did similar things. I had to change gears myself back in the fall.
Yeah I have a few things I fill my time with now. And have a few welding jobs that come through my shop. Kinda getting that going. Definitely much happier with the way it is now.I make peanuts for pay. I've always had enough and been content (not necessarily complacent) with what I had. Ultimately, I will never make more than what I'm currently making where I'm at. The boss constantly complains about money and being broke but brags about credit rating and continues to buy and buy and buy silly shit and I'm ready to work for a company that has the room to grow and catch up with the times.
I'm left coast, hardly awake, looking at finishing my wire pull while waiting for my first minisplit to land today so I can get my 2 running rooms finished LOL and you yell CHOP!!!!Chop, chop!
I see you wavering! Too bad our closer, @Laughing Grass isn't here. Wait it's not the weekend where is she?Plus I'll never be able to afford a freeze dryer at the current job. Or the dental bills from all the skittles that will be consumed (for testing, obviously!!)
Closers don't work on me. I don't have the funds to be closed upon. LolI see you wavering! Too bad our closer, @Laughing Grass isn't here. Wait it's not the weekend where is she?
all teasing aside the times are tough right now. Start shopping your skills. You deserve a comfortable, living wage.Closers don't work on me. I don't have the funds to be closed upon. Lol
lol - I gotta admit, yesterday was glorious. 98% of our clients are American, so it was Deadsville yesterdayLOL and you yell CHOP!!!!
Oh, for sure. Think I'm going to go towards sales/customer service. I'm not at all worried about finding work. I can quite literally go to Amazon and start at close to what im making now if things get critical. But the good news is that I do 90+ percent of the fabrications installation where I'm at so he can't really shit can me upon notice without royally fucking himself. That said, I don't have any reason to believe that that would ever happen anyways.all teasing aside the times are tough right now. Start shopping your skills. You deserve a comfortable, living wage.
and where was the other ones from?lol - I gotta admit, yesterday was glorious. 98% of our clients are American, so it was Deadsville yesterday
