To mix or not to mix

I was reading an old Nebula Haze page on living soils. He claims it’s better to put your living soil concentrate in the bottom 1 gallon of the pot and the remaining 4 gallons just whatever your substrate is (I’m using pro mix). Now I usually take Nebulas word but I don’t like this..

I want to mix the living soil and the pro mix.. I’m sure it’ll be fine either way but I wanted to get some second opinions before I mix it.

thanks fellas :bigjoint:

I would mix. Even a seedling will sink a tap root to the bottom of a 5-gallon pot in just a few days.

If you're worried about the mix being too hot, I'd start in a smaller pot of a weaker mix and then transplant into the full-strength one.

Agreed. I see no harm. If you’re using ProMix should be fine. Not like you’re mixing soil & coco. That’s bonkers. Good idea from @weedstoner420 to start a small pot first if trepidatious

Ended up following the instructions on the Natures Living Soil bag. Mixed the bottom 1/3 of the pot with Natures living soil and pro mix. Filled the rest with pro mix by its self.
That Natures living soil smells so bad! :spew:
In a good way.
Anyway, time’ll tell. Thanks for dropping in

I think the color is good on the two in the front.. the ladies in the back have definitely been expressing themselves oddly..

They are some old seeds that were just laying around for 2/3 years.. out of 10 seeds those are the only two that made it.. so they were definitely not stored well. But besides some leathery looking leaves and some variegation.. they seem fine.

the two in the front are from a recent purchase and they are THRIVING compared to the two in the back.

back two are gelato
Front two are wedding cake

You can see the speckles on the first true leaf and the odd look of the second node leaf closest to the camera
