Update :
This is how
easy a simple container grow operates.
I layer a myco heavy mid section to the layered soil mix. Bottom 1/3 is all Fox Farm ocean forest with #3 coarse perlite or pumice.
Then a light spray hydration, followed by a layer of myco / kelp meal / ewc. Then i add Recipe 420 potting mix with additional perlite to fill remaining container volume. Transplantable solo cup seedling is added .
I water enough for transplant
not the container fully.
This will alone power things for weeks on tap water. The myco layer once rehydrated and now deeper in container will be blooming ready for roots to run through it. Kelp meal will provide growth hormones and other goodies .
Now … feeding is stupid simple. After about 5 weeks or so.
2 to 3 tablespoons of Recipe 420 General 6-8-4 scratched into topsoil. This will recharge what was used by plant / introduce new myco and last for approximately 2 weeks before re-application.
My containers are 2 gallon as i run perpetuals and really dont need larger 5 gallon. But , methods are the same and will allow more soil to be used before any dry fertilizer is needed. I do not PH water. Tap from the sink.
