Platinium Hydrostone (rockwool drip system?) help

I've just bought this system and i'm confused if i should time the pump to run in intervals or just let it run all the time with this setup? Thanks.

yes the blocks need some dryback otherwise youll get algae

Algae isn't that terrible and is easily remedied, however having a saturated rockwool block doesn't allow the roots to breath and is asking for root problems.

Rockwool is a bit tricky, but it produces well.
