First grow & prep

hey team just about ready to set up got my head wrapped around most things however there are a new stones unturned...

going to be running led lights in a tent from herbal house trouble is seeds are hard to get here and want to keep my small batch of feminized ones going so will need to keep a mother and clone however with the tent being for veg and flower this will probably not be possible right ?

i was considering building a individual box for the mother but unsure as to what wattage this would need to be ? also is the clones light cycle just the same as veg 16/8

thanks for the help in advance

you only need 20-30 watts of light to keep a mother plant going. and you can keep the light cycal the same or do 24/0 , choice is yours
Thanks for the reply boss so by the 20-30 watt logic just a regular house bulb should be sufficient right and due to the light not producing much heat I shouldn't need a fan in my mother box right ? My alternative solution was to buy 2 smaller tents and run one on each cycle so I can clone In my veg tent thoughts ? Tents will go inside closed in shed so Temps will slightly fluctuate pending on outside weather however the shed does tend to stay fairly consistent as it's Cladded insulated ect

Dude even a wee CFL light or led would do not a normal light bulb thats incandescent light not much use for cannabis keep em small they don't need much light you could do it temporarily in a rigged up box till u get a second tent since you said seeds are hard to get I figure your in aus or new Zealand?

A mate of mine would take his clones and root them in any old cardboard box with a 20w cfl.
Sometimes he'd just have 10 cardboard boxes randomly scattered around the house.

They'll stay relatively small for a long time like that until ready to throw under a bigger light.

Cfl is a good choice for clones and mums as the spectrum tends to keep them tight and compact.

Personally I'd eventually go for small mother tent with enough room to train a nice mom and a light or few lights.

Inevitably you'll expand your hobby until your sleeping in a cardboard box and your whole property is just a jungle :eyesmoke:

Hey mate yeah from nz thanks for the info and I'll just get a small led lamp and fix it to the lid of mother box I make up will get a propper nice clone setup once I've done a couple of cycles and figured out if I can actually do this kind of intimidating reading so much info and contrasting opinions makes it hard to know if I'm on the right path but I'll keep this thread as informative as I can as I progress and hopefully a few good people like yourselves can help along the way ! I have a 100 watt no name led off amazon dimmable
Telling you man it's the best light I've ever used
For what it is ..a seedling light 1 or and a half square foot
Depends the area you need to cover
You could use a cfl bulb Like 10 watts for clones that's about it
It would light a propagator
I have done it loads of times
But cfl bulbs are not great
The light I have blows them away
You get symmetrical branch's no gaps ..as long as everything else is right your enviroment

I once added an incandescent to my veg tent, only 60w, just for a bit of radiant heat to add to my LED.
I somehow plugged it into the wrong socket , which wasn't on a timer.
So the LED turned off, the incandescent stayed on for those 6 hours..
In 48 hours my plants went from squat plants with tight nodes to 4ft high and the nodes were about 9" apart.
Had to cut them all back to the bottom node.

Devastating but you learn from the painful mistakes much quicker

Alright guys so here we have it

Light - helios 480 ( 4 seasons )
