I'm very tempted to do an indoor grow with leds but it's autumn & soon to be winter how difficult would it be to grow during the winter? What kind of problems & challenges would I be met with? .

It certainly depends on where you live, but for the vast majority, winter weather is more conducive to indoor grows.
It takes much less effort to get a good growing environment in the winter; at least for a basement grower in the midwest.
I skip summers for precisely this reason.

Summer I'm battling high humidity winter I'm battling low humidity and temp but it's all well worth it
That's helpful thanks for the reply well it would be an indoor grow in 1.2 1.2 sq tent using 600watt LEDs think it's the cold air from the intake and how cold the water & grow space would get is what really concerns me lol

Wowsers cool Midwest I take it you your from the United States I'm from the United kingdom I'm worried about the cold air from the intake going into the grow space I mean how do you Control that? Also the water would be very cold.

I find basement to be my best option I have in summer in midwest. Its occupied so I cant use it but it would help with dtw coco my reservoir too warm going bad fast. I did switch from shock to clorox but most bateria grow at warmer temps.

My basement veg tent I do have however the res never goes bad. Im experimenting seeing if it needs bleach at all. Or less doses but for sure deep cleanings. Squeeky clean.

I had hvac in home fixing at first the ac then trouble shooting and finally declaring my exausting outside the new problem. If it was in basement they said it would help the home ac and my grow. Its naturally cooler there.

Its actually not summers that get me its transition periods. Where home ac is off and outside is same temp. I vent in some cooler air from the home but I also vent in from outside. The door vent helps improvise a little when ac is off.

Then the window vent becomes a super effective cooling system venting in from outside. Soon it will need to be put on a controller because it will work too good. Its how I get by in my room without a dedicated minisplit.

I do get benefit of low rh if its a dry fall/winter but anyother time its high rh thats a draw back. Anyway hope my rambles helps. From what I recall winters are the cleanest grows no bugs or mold.

Id say if you cant tell already theres all kinds of pros and cons anytime considering where to set up next even if its the same home.

You might want to ask our UK guys what they think about winter growing?

More times than not, you need cool air via the intake. In warmer weather, it's gonna require an AC unit to keep temps in check and the associated cost. Cool air is free in the winter, very expensive in the summer.

If your water is colder than you think is appropriate, let it sit at room temp for a while. I've never had an issue using cold water directly from the spigot.

Youll be alright like people are saying but really depends on a lot of things. My grow is big enough with 900w of led in a 10’x10’ bedroom to use that as heat in winter so its worth it.

I guess I forgot to include im up north in the midwest so summers here arent like south cali or MO but it does get hot. If youre in the uk idk what its like there.

Im getting fuzzy mold growing on my weed Im pissed lol. Didnt know it can happen when everythings good. I grow all year long I do dabs only so I have to be more active.

You generally use your house air as intake and remove the heat via window or chimney.

My basements too cold in winter without adding heaters, rest of the house is fine.
But in summer the top if the house is mafting.
But just about manageable with good extraction.

At the end of the day, if your house is too cold and you aren't heating it you can just buy a hps for 50 quid and the grow space will be a whole lot warmer.

Can't keep a hps on 24/7 especially if I make it to flower phase also I don't trust hps lights both grows have hermed on me could be endless possibilities to why but I know them hps lights beam way too much heat

Its the best time to grow (*for me) because the humidity drops nice and low during flower. If your not using a dehumidifier, this can save your buds from mold. Pests are less likely to come in from outside too, depending on where you live and how cold it gets.. If your grow room is cooler than the mid 70's lights on, you may need a heater.

If I grow in summer months, (indoors) the RH hovers around 60. My grow cabinet can get up to higher RH after waterings etc.... So, this works fine for Veg but conditions are a little too damp for flower. I do use a dehumidifier ($400) and it helps cut down humidity, but I prefer to wait for winter to flower.

1-2 months in Veg
+
2 months in flower.

= Its a good time to start now, Dec, January, February is perfect flower time !
