Decided I didn't have enough flexible wire to tie the LST photo down how I wanted. So made a scrog. First pic is right after bending into the scrog and watering 1/2 gal. Feed was 1/3 milk and tsp of FF Big Bloom. Figured regular FF dose knocks pH of tap to like 2.8. So another milk+Big Bloom should land closer to neutral pH.

The auto I gave half tsp of FF tiger bloom with 1/3 milk, but she got more like 2/5ths a gal total feed since she doesn't drink quite as fast. First one pic is right after watering. Second one 3hrs later(just now).

I wanted to get these plant caddies I saw at Walmart like a months ago, now they got Christmas stuff taking over with gardening stuffs "out of season". Just curious how healthy roots stay with the bottom staying moist/not breathing.

Also, when I water I mix in a gallon jug. Then pour that into a red cup(16oz) with a slight flex in its rim for a spout. I light dribble everywhere to moisten the surface. Otherwise your watering is likely to just find a path to rush out the bottom/sides(fabric pots). Repeat with the 2nd cup. Then I wait about 10-15min for water to redistribute and moisten evenly. When plants get really dry like mine with slightly limp leaves, the soil tends to tighten/harden up. After the first 2 cups, I rotate the pot giving slight squeezes - just enough to feel the soil slightly move. My bro science thought says that should help expose any really dry spots if they're in there. Then pour the last 2 cup fulls more quickly, but still evenly.

Like your scrog and the girls are looking well.

I was the same once they started to go over the edges of the pot I found them hard to tie down.

I found the SCROG much easier to manage the canopy. Then once the stems have formed you can move the SCROG and then tie them down to keep them in down.

I know in my previous grow, after the tops were spaced well enough apart, they grew fairly vertical and I ended up removing the scrog bc I had to flush them good(salt build up, pH was stuck low) and they pretty well kept their shape. I plan to do it this time also. Something nice about letting them grow uninhibited after I got them trained.

Also, I always make my scrog bc I like connecting the string intersections with rubber twist ties. Then I can slide and adjust the net for spacing tops just a little more precise.

That is a good way of doing it.
Do it take long to make your own SCROG net?

About 30 minutes. I get the string for a $2.99 at harbor freight and then the green rubber coated wire from Rural King for like $3.99. it really makes laying out Bud sites so much more precise, and I never have to worry about light exposure not getting to where I want it.

On another note, I noticed yesterday that I was getting the slightest tip of my fan leaves yellowing. With the slight down clawing it made me think nitrogen burn. The dry amendments I used say "good for feeding up to 4 weeks", so I would think by now they would be almost gone. But I flushed each one with a gallon of normal water yesterday evening, and this morning they weren't drooping much which is good. I'll see how they look after work.

Well they look healthy and growing good, so flush must've been the right move. What's crazy is they're almost as light as when I flushed them yesterday... Watered 1/2gal Saturday (lil less on the auto), then flushed a whole gallon yesterday....and they're drinking her up. I'm probably safe to water a gallon each time.

FYI besides nitrogen burn I've also over watered several times in the past, so I tend to go less on the volume per feed.

Just now:

I had to raise the auto's lights almost 2inches from yesterday. There's minor bleed over from both lights so here in a week or two when I increase the auto's lights more for flower I'll be dropping the left side of the light above the auto to angle PPFD 's away from the photo. I got the auto at around 610 ppfd, and the photo at 480-520 depending. Though I am transitioning to 12/12. One less hour every couple days. I do off half hr earlier and on a half hr later on the light timer. Feel if there is any shock, this should be damn gentle on them.Started at 18/6, I'm down to 16/8 now. Plus allows DLI to transition smoothly as well.

Wild thought just now looking at these pics. I wonder if I should start to LST the auto's 3 mains a little. There is a 4th branch that I hoped would grow faster like the 3rd visible branch(they're the same node). Hell after this picture, I see a branch from the main(circled in yellow) that's almost identical to the budsite I was talking about.

Man that'd be awesome to get a side cola for each main - half the size but just as potent I told her!

I don't think you have much to lose by doing some LST. The Christmas tree shape isn't very efficient with a single light.

The base of the stem looks thick but those top branches will bend I would say

Thanks brother. That's where my mind was, just bending the top half. Shouldn't stress it hardly at all and more light penetration.

I'm starting to wonder if 3gal pots are enough if I try to grow any photo periods larger spread than my girl scrogged. I don't have the side picture, but that auto from last night to tonight grew like 2-4 inches in height and 1-2 inches in width. But my photo grew about an inch taller and 1/2 broader everywhere. I think maybe 20"x20" is about max for the root system a 3gal can support. And I'm just guessing with her at the end of veg - it'll take 12 days to get from 16/8 to 12/12 at 1hr reduced every 2 days.

Also has me contemplating getting a 5gal that's the same height for a future grow. She's technically transitioning to flower already and might harvest only 2-3weeks after the auto, so don't want to stress her.

Week 6 | Day 41 | Lights @14/10, 1hr less light every 2 days till 12/12.

They're doing quite well IMO. watered each about 3/5ths a gallon. For the auto - ~1.2 tsp of Tiger Bloom and a 1/2 tsp big bloom. For the photo 1 tsp of Tiger Bloom and 1 tsp of big bloom. It's been about 10 days since any "normal" feeding and I'm hoping after: 1 watering, and 2 milk+waterings, that the soil pH rose some and this acidic feeding won't ruin the soil biology. My last grow my soil got acidic, tried a "light" flush, pH was still reading super low. So I had to flush like 3 gallons of water through each 3 gal pot.
I also defoliated the photo slightly. Mainly just the lower node bud sites that were never gonna reach the canopy, and some leaves that looked half dead or were baby leaves - no sense them growing more under my dense canopy.

Pics are after watering. One bummer is my 100watt over the auto is at 100% now, roughly 620ppfd at 20inches. The photo is at 90% but will soon be 100% also. I'm really gonna need to LST this auto decently so it's light's height can be in the ballpark of the photoperiod's lights. I feel at the end of this grow the lights will only be a foot from cola's.

Raised scrog about 2 inches since set up.

EDIT: Also trying a little clone in the back corner from one of the lower node branches I trimmed. I don't expect anything, but I have Hormodin(root hormone) so figured why not give it a shot lol.

Their green is slightly darker which I like! Auto had no problem with the LST, and both grew some! Love seeing turn arounds in 1 day after feeding. I'd read that Fox Farm bottle synthetic nute dosages are more for inert(coir, hydro) grow mediums. For soil with micro life, dosing half or 1/3rd of what the bottle recommends works out better. Seems to be true so far.

Week 7 | Day 49

Still going well. I do think my big photo is growing slow. But then again, it has a lot more foliage and is getting taller - about an inch every day or 2. I do have some yellow blemishing that I would love other's opinions on. Thank goodness I defoliated some of the bigger fan leaves, or I'd have never seen the odd tie-dye yellow green leaves. Its on younger lower leaves, but only like 4 leaves out of the whole plant.

Below pics are the issue in question, and after removing scrog+mild defoliation. Mainly big leaves that were covering lower sites and were pushing their branch away, spreading my plant a little too wide.

They're both doing well. I think I could potentially water more often. I've been letting them go till I see slight droop. I'm really excited for the photo 's turn out. She's fairly big and finally getting her stretch on. Had to feed a little fish fertilizer(5-1-1) with little bit of tiger bloom since she's starting her preflowers. With the Auto, I am a little concerned towards the center of her...gonna be a tight mesh of buds there.

Looking great
Loads of bud sites particularly on the one on the right.

With them drinking faster, I'm watering 1/2-3/4gal every other day. I did 1/2 gal on the auto with 1/2 tsp Tiger Bloom, tsp big bloom, and ~25% was 1% milk. Keeping the pH balanced lol
Photo got 3/4gal with 1/4tsp tiger bloom, tsp big bloom, and probably 30% was 1% milk

PPFD
photo: 510-660(edges-center)
auto: 860-930 at tops, down to 500 for tops of lowest branches.

Man that photo has 12 main budsites, and at least double that in secondary budsites that are only 2-5 inches shorter. I may have to trim the big fan leaves again. There's more secondary budsites just under some. I'm gonna need the auto to finish in 3 weeks or so bc this photo is gonna need to be rotated 90 degrees and get both lights on it!!
