Anybody know what this is?

I decided I was going to use some mushroom compost into my soil mix. when dumping it out this green grassy looking things with roots came out with the compost. Does anybody know what this is if I should remove it or or leave it I'm removing it but if it needs to be left I will

That's a plant. Maybe corn or some other kind of grass.

I would just leave it, it'll break down eventually and feed the soil microbes.

Lots of folks take the remnants of plants they harvest and either use them as a mulch, or mix them into the soil for next round. Same idea, it all gets turned back into nutrients eventually.

I guess I had never seen anything like that in something you buy at the store so I was kinda confused. Thanks

Yeah, I will say it looks surprisingly green and alive for being in a bag of compost. Who knows how it got in there but I'm sure the packing process for that stuff is not super clean or precise. Just be glad it's vegetative matter and not plastic or trash.
