Hey quick question you and most members here know whats what. I'm out of indica and have a rainbowzest outside still which is sativa, can I leave it to turn as much amber to make something for sleep. Unsure if bro science on trikes is legit or real. Just meaning if growing sativa saying to chop when 80%cloudy/milky. Didn't know when turns amber it degrades potency and turns thc to cbg. Thanks Bud.
Genetics plays a part as to what the attributes will be and IME you may wait a long time for amber trichomes on some varieties. It is also acknowledged that everyone's experience can be somewhat different than the next person. Had some black domina last night and found it to be thought provoking and energising - which doesn't seem normal for a heavy indica.

Cannabis is also biphasic - which means consuming more isn't always better. A small amount may mitigate anxiety, while more may induce anxiety.

THC, over time will convert to CBN (not cbg). It requires UV, time or heat - oxidization. You could double or triple decarboxylate in-order to have a more sedative attribute from most cannabis varieties - sativa or indica.

My finding are the later you wait the more CDB than THC is present.
The CBD plants I've grown had more CBD if left longer, but also more THC. If your genetics are grown to produce THC, I've not seen it where it suddenly produces CBD by letting it grow longer.

Tall bushes were CBD, with some Ice up the middle. Everyone loved the Ice :bigjoint:

Is that bubblegum yours Bob I have been looking for bazooka bubble gum since 1999 when i lost mine.
From what I've seen, the bazooka joe isthe common bubblegum pheno and the Original Flavor Bubbleicious is the uber rare one. Mosca Seeds and Fleur De Mal Seeds both have it.

From what I understand the bazooka joe is the more common pheno. There's a lot of seed companies that have it listed. Mosca Seeds, Fleur De Mal Seeds, and Serious Seeds are probably the most credible.

I make the statement base on my experience, the longer I let a plant go the less of a high I get. Where my friend who smokes to relieve pain finds that the later harvest helps her feel better. I enjoy to harvest early the high is higher. So my thought is the THC degrades.

Yesterday I was having a service at the house for a friend who died in January and the family did nothing. So I was a little short.

Had wanted to say that if I was a little younger and not medically saddled with issues I would start a service to test pot. The tester reduces it to percentage of what is present. This would reduce based on my experience to a quantitative result. The orange one was cost effective and fairly simple. As people will want to know what they are producing I see it as a growing market. Yes there are mail it to places, but showing up setting up machine and handing person results I think has potential.

Yea that's what I was reading longer you let trikes turn amber it degrades a bit in potency but turn thc to other compound's,cbg, cbn, etc. or when cooking at longer times in decarb.

Everything's harvested now but I did one of the Pine Tar Kush in stages and left 1 last stem to keep going. Am curious if the later harvest gives the more sedative effect from the THC converting to CBN.

So I've been harvesting that one bit by bit over the last week and a half.

Seems like it's getting past the prime ripening window, flowers are starting to look a tad dry in places and the terps seem quieter now. Quite a few of the remaining leaves are dying now. Got down to 28 tonight and supposed to hit low twenties by dawn tomorrow.

Wondering if I should harvest those last PTK flowers tonight. Will a hard frost ruin them? Not sure I've ever had a plant at those temperatures.

Tempted to just let it ride just to see what happens. Maybe I'll go out and snip a few late tonight before temps. get too frigid.

Here's some shots I took at dusk tonight when I watered her root zone in preparation for the frost:

I've had plants in the low twenties. I don't think that a hard frost will ruin the buds as far as THC CBN, but it affects flavor. The outer layer on the stems, the phloem, will freeze and start to peel off when you touch it. When this happens the flavor goes to hell and starts to taste like hay.
Beautiful plant!

Interesting, thanks. Turns out it only got down to 29 here predawn, but we have rain coming supposedly tomorrow. I think I may just let 'er roll another few days for kicks. If it gets ruined, no biggie, I've got plenty of the earlier harvest. Good way to learn...

Some of the PTK do get awfully pretty when nightime temps go down. This one is deep, deep purple now.

Yeah, that's probably what I would do. Where did you source your PTK if you don't mind me asking? I've seen it offered from CSI Humbolt and Kingdom organic seeds, both claim to be from Tom Hill.

I don't want to mention my weather.
But I wish I had a frost to kill the mosquitoes.
No rain for a month. Lowest has been in the low 40's.
My Panama Red is still not ready. Harvested the last of the AK47 it had gone lavender in color.
The rest of my Durban Poison has gone that color will harvest that tomorrow.

I was given four plants 8 inches tall in August the Don Carlos is now the height of a tomato cage and to be harvested today.

Some outfit in British Columbia, Island Life Seeds. Saw on their IG last month that they're going out of biz, so better hurry if you want any! I made a bunch of seeds here last year and again this year if you fall short DM me.

I had a couple of mine get very dark, one was indoors with no cold weather to cause it. The green phenos seemed more potent to me.

Interesting...I have a greenie PTK from the seeds I made last year, will have to compare effects.

So the color is triggered not by temp. but by length of nights? (or in your case lights off time). Or just age of the plant and stage of growth? Would love to know the mechanism behind it.

Have to admit I'm surprised how late these last flowers are still going...after all, this is pretty close to a pure indica mountain-type strain from what I've learned. The green pheno seemed to finish a bit earlier.

Great plants, the one female I grew last year was some of the best flower I've ever had. Definitely a keeper.

Looks just like the late ones i took last week almost black. We hit 20 here last night.
