Wouldn't really use that link above as a "how to tell if its a samsung 301H/B or not". Barley should even use it as 2835 vs 3030...which is not an issue for anyone. 3030=3mmx3mm 2835= 2.8mmx3.5mm 5050=5mmx5mm 5630=5.6mmx3mm.
Didn't mention anything between different 3030s. Did bring up the flip chip..but never mention what it is and what to look for...aka lack of bond wires connectnig chip to package.
For instance they talk about the 301d and infer its a different size...when it is not. It's the exact same size as the 301b/h's so not sure where he is coming up with the poppy cock...their are called 3030 for their size, not for fun 3mmx3mm.
301b/h vs 301d is a pad difference, and a non flip chip for the 301D...aka will have bond wires. 301h/b's will not.
Can see these main differences when dimmed and looking, or use a welders mask/glass and is clear as day.
Higher price means it genuine??? more like you got ripped off if thats their stance.
Anyways....don't use that article, it didn't give you anything to use.
Look to see if they are flip chips or not. After that, go to the pads. For dads your gunna need some luck to find enough of an exposed pad to tell the differecne, as they both have symmetrical wide tails, but the narrower center that is not usually exposed is where you find the difference.
If your light is now broken and always wondered...just chip one led off with a flat head. Look at the pad. Their is your only guarantee.
But even as I say that, cree's new E class 3030 is a direct drop in for the 301b/h. Same squiggly pad, same flip chip. BTW it better than the 301h/B...so would that make it a counterfeit, even if its an upgrade in every manner? And on the otherside, you best belive the chinese have 1:1 looking knock offs, pads and all, to drop in
