Hows it going everyone. I finished harvesting the previous crop today, and shuffled 9 plants into the flower tent. Will veg them for a week, or until canopy fills up.

Here is the lineup, from left to right.

Back row
2x_ TLT Malawi Gold
1x_ Super Silver Haze

Middle row
2x_ Valley Ice (Dark Purple Sativa Pheno)
1x_ F1 Valley Ice x Brandywine

Front row
2x_ SFV OG
1x_ F1 Valley Ice x Brandywine

I have 3 objectives.
1. Cross SSH with Purple Valley Ice
2. Cross MTF with TLT Malawi Gold
3. Make more SSH and Malawi seeds.

The males are in my living room, chilling on the windowsill. I will collect the pollen and brush it on the females when they are in week 3 or 4 of flower.

Cheers

I gave everything another cup and half of water today. I think its crazy that I kept everything alive for a month, in just quart pots.

Did some LST on a few of the plants. ↓

I made sure to go very light on the N. I did a lot of research in preparation to growing this Landrace Sativa. I will have to flower everything on 11/13 instead of 12/12. Also, they tend do better when grown on the outskirts. This piece of information I acquired from an old timer who has been growing and breeding old school haze for at least 30 years.
There are two different phenotypes in my tent. I will be breeding with the pheno that has the thin long leaves.

The SSH is looking pretty bad right now. LOL! She didn't take the transplant into the hot soil mix very well. I also topped her hard before transplanting. At least the new growth is doing well. I expect her to bounce back and really take off in about 10 days.↓IMG_20241228_163827554.jpgIMG_20241228_163837993.jpg

Thats all for now. Feel free to leave any comments or pics that are relevant and helpful.

Cheers

I spent some time training and pinching buds off the larger plants. I will probably have to prune some back, to keep them small. I want to give the SSH some more time to fill out. Im expecting everything to really take off next time I water. SSH ↓IMG_20241231_184725215_HDR.jpgIMG_20241231_184748890.jpg

The SFV OG is a nitrogen whore. She looks super juiced up and I suspect these two plants will be the most challenging to keep small. IMG_20241231_180648573_HDR.jpg

I kind of messed up on the soil mix for the deep purple Valley Ice. I forgot she is a light feeder. Both of the clones are looking overwhelmed by the soil mix, so I will most likely do a soft flush on the next watering.

I took out one of the F1 plants and replaced it with an Amnesia Haze clone. The clone looks better prepared for this run. IMG_20241231_180706377.jpg

This next bit of information will be rather interesting to many of you. I kept staring at the tallest Malawi and I couldn't shake the feeling that it needed to be much shorter. I pulled her out of the pot and decided to bend her in half, then place her back in the pot. I now have a super short compact MALAWI. I feel much better about this adjustment. Im less likely to run out of height space when she starts flowering.IMG_20241231_185458387.jpgIMG_20241231_190705578_HDR.jpgIMG_20241231_185103674.jpg

Below you will see the Malawi in the far left corner. Before and after. Quite the height difference.

I feel a little caught of guard by the SSH. I really put her through some harsh stuff. Wasn't expecting the plant to be sensitive. The SSH ive grown in the past (sensi seeds) were freaking robust bamboo weeds. LOL

Thats all for now.
Cheers.

Well friends... The Silver Haze has been taken out of the flower tent. Ive done all I can to stunt the growth of the other plants, in order to give SSH a chance to fill out. Unfortunately she is growing really slow. She will have to wait in the veg tent until the next cycle. Also, I think it might be hungry for some magnesium. Its really strange to see one plant completely reject my soil mix. Everything else is starting to go "Beast Mode". LOL
The two cuttings I took off her, have rooted. So in the next cycle I will be able to run at least three healthy SSH. I will most likely repot this troubled plant, once she puts on some weight.IMG_20250110_012035146.jpgIMG_20250110_015210889_HDR.jpgIMG_20250110_041309950.jpg

I decided to throw into the flower tent another Amnesia Haze clone. I was able to take 4 good cuttings before setting her up. IMG_20250110_024417279_HDR.jpg

I did some more training and super cropped the F1 Brandywine x Valley Ice. The stem smells like burnt rubber with really faint mint. I haven't a clue how the flowers are going to turn out. Its unlike either of the parents. IMG_20250110_031955757_HDR.jpg

I think ive done a great job training both Malawi plants. Ive pinched the top buds multiple times, removed some small branches, and right now she looks ready to explode with growth. I went pretty light on the nutes, but apparently I could have gone even lighter. The Malawi clones, however, look super happy. The only thing I did with those was sprinkle a few 4-4-4 pellets. Its ridiculous how little this landrace plant needs.

All the plants have roots popping out the bottom of the pots. Looks like they have finally grown into the new soil. I probably have 1 week at the most before I flip them to 11/13. I want both Amnesia Haze clones to fill out just a little more. Things are about to get crowded in there. LOL IMG_20250110_041635339_HDR.jpg

Both of the SFV OG took the hot loaded soil like true champions, just like the vigorous purple Valley Ice from my last run. These are the type of plants that I like to breed with. True weeds in a sense... Relentless and robust.

Cheers

Is that girl in the back left, the Malawi with the stem that you doubled back over onto itself and then repotted ? If so, it’s recovered amazingly well, and went from a lanky tree to a proper shrub. Very cool advanced training stuff.
Thats correct. She is looking really good right now. Its going to be fun watching her stretch once I flip everything to flower. I wonder if she will still be the tallest plant in there. :bigjoint:

Feeling a bit restless this evening, I decided to repot the VI purple male, and graft a MTF scion. I am taking a different grafting approach this time. I made the cut on a section of the plant where there is a knuckle forming. My theory is that these knuckled areas have a lot of energy and hormones that will help the graft to take and heal quicker. Also, I am placing the plant in a bag, so that RH is extremely high. This will prevent the cutting from drying and wilting, which will lead to a failed graft.IMG_20250111_024834098~2.jpgIMG_20250111_024919637~2.jpgIMG_20250111_025121050.jpg

And just in case anyone is wondering, Ive had one successful graft so far. I used a different method that incorporated plugs, which was purely experimental. I read it on the forum somewhere, but never actually saw any videos or pictures so I just kind of winged it. Below are before and after pictures of the successful graft. Learning a lot from ya keep it up,love knowing all aspects. Such a different world to growing from learning all this, other than me germinating and throwing outside to survive, don't get to dedicate time to see the small changes. It embarrassing but I've never cut a clone because never started up a indoor before till last year. Where exactly do you cut and when like few weeks in veg. I know I've seen people and you I think cut a piece in flower then it reveges. Just cut a branch that would be a cola?

You can take cuttings from any part of the plant. Ive taken a spindly long branch, cut that into four pieces, and turned all four pieces into rooted clones.
Whenever a plant is in flower, I usually cut the lower scraggly branches and root them. The lower growth is always behind in flower, because it doesn't receive much light.
You could cut and root a cola, but it would take a really long time. Ive never done that.
