If you have proven something wrong that you have heard many times through out books or other growers please list them here i am very interested to now and i'm sure others would to

Good thread,i find myths here on a daily basis,they get repeated like bobble head dolls,the ole "what he said" factor which leads to noobs giving terrible advice.
1 Miracle grow.
All the rave is to repeat what "they've heard" about it killing grows,its been proven time & time again on this forum that the stuff works,noobs destroy their grow then blame the fert instead of being over anxious & using it in an improper way.
2 Fox Farms high priced soil.
Ive proven in a side by side comparison in my personal grows that the super expensive soil offers zero benifit over home depot brand potting soil that has been amemded properly, at 1/10 th the cost per pound.
3 Bud dryers.
My 4th grow using a bud dryer finished drying a few weeks ago with excellent results,after the 1st bud dryer grow i finished to be sure i wasnt taking away quality or taste with the bud dryer, i gave out samples of bud dried in the bud dryer & hang dried & cured bud as well,not one single person could pick out any harsh taste,headache or any other negative drawback,infact most people thought both types tasted the same as the other,both types looked excellent as well.
4 Exoctic fertilizers.
My personal favorite fertilizer for my soil grows is Peters/Jacks brand granular ferts,they were the ferts reccomended in the grow faq at Overgrow before it went down,a very high quality fert but cheap like Miracle Grow.
Ive tried them side by side with several different ultra high priced exoctic ferts like Fox Farms,the jacks fertilizer plants were in better overall health through the entire grow,i attribute this to me using peters & jacks for years & being a noob to exoctic ferts,the point is that excellent results can be had with no need to buy these super expensive products.
5 Seed bank seeds.
When i 1st got back into growing i did the normal deal & used bag seed from a bag of good weed without a fancy cool sounding name & it was mind blowing smoke when it finished up,my 2nd grow i ran 4 differnt seed bank strains,all of them turned out kick ass but none were better or worse than the bag seed grow before & i had plenty left from the 1st grow to compare against.
The point is that seed bank seeds do not need to be purchased over quality growing equipment,i see noobs all the time reccomending that other noobs must buy seed bank seeds out of their very small grow room budget, & reccomend buying better lighting/fans ect later on,this is not true,as long as the weed the seed came from was good the wee grown will in most cases be better.

Myth:
Don't use tin foil (aluminum foil) as a reflective surface - because it will cause "hotspots" and burn your plants.
Busted:
I have used tin foil, in the past, and still do once in a while for a "temporary set-up" or an experimental project - I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED HOTSPOTS, EVER! Just think about it, all the "little wrinkles" would have to be focused on the same, tiny little, area of the plant (Like a magnifying glass. Yeah, like that might ever happen!). Are you shitting me? Have you ever seen wrinkled foil? It reflects light in all directions, like a Disco-ball, only more randomly! Hot spots, my ass!
The real reason not to use foil is because it just isn't as good at reflecting light as you would think (less than 50%).

Myth: Weed is a weed
I am inclined to believe its not as this is the definition of a weed:
1.a valueless plant growing wild, esp. one that grows on cultivated ground to the exclusion or injury of the desired crop.2.any undesirable or troublesome plant, esp. one that grows profusely where it is not wanted: The vacant lot was covered with weeds.
The other definiton is marijauna but thats under slang.
To be honest i dont think my weed is undervalueless and unfourtantely does not grow prefusely
but yeh its deffo not a weed. Its THE WEED. But not a weed.

This is true Cammo. Foil is actualy good if in a pinch, But never makes the "hotspots" all these other people say that it dose.I used it recently to get my seedlings up and going for about4 weeks and no sort of hotspot to speak of ever occured.
Its perhaps not as good as mylar but still good.Another myth that should be busted is sexing at seed, cuzz i dont think there is any way to sex at seed bottom line is to letem grow till you can sex them. Good thread

but wouldent it be classed as a weed through the governments eyes cause they cant seem to see the possative effects of it
otherwise nettles would not be a weed or doc leaves as they can be used in soups and as a medicine

nahhh the weeds are normally asexual plants and have the ability to grow all over the place by itsself and can live pretty much anywhere. Also weeds are normally a garden pest rather than a politcal or social pest as the government would see it. Its deffo not a "weed" man, soz.

Myth... Brand X Fertilizer, part A, part B & part micro.... along with add in X (just $ 29.95 a bottle) will make your weed " The Chronic ".....
FALSE..... Each strain of Mary has a genetic potential, it can be reached - but not exceeded by using some high dollar fert or add in. Low grade ditch weed, can not be fertilized into AK-47 quality herb..... save your money.... like Panhead said.....(Amen Brother)

Myth:
There's no THC in Leaves, leaves can't get you high.
Fact: There's THC on the leaves, enough of them will get you high. But better yet collect hash from them even when you don't need it, you'll be glad to have it when you run out of bud and it's killer hash even just from fan leaves.

If anything being pollinated would make the plant produce more THC. The trichomes entire purpose is to protect the seed from UV light, and insects mostly. The light hits the bulb of the trichome and is focused on the disk between the head and the stalk of the trichome. This light heats up the disk and THC is made. This accomplished 2 things, it absorbed the light energy, and the THC will protect the seed from hungry bugs and birds.
