I would think most instances of kids being hit by cars would occur in residential areas. Taking something that doesn't belong to you is stealing. If a cop caught you stealing a street light, even the one directly in front of your house, you'd still be busted.
And all this homeowner shit. I'm sorry, but most HOMEOWNERS I know don't need to STEAL street lights. Not only are they usually more mature than that, but they can afford to buy them. If someone's talking about stealing street lights, I assume they don't own a home. I mean come on, who can afford a house but not a light bulb

You can't just make some out there statement and challenge others to prove it wrong. You have to give some of your proof that it's TRUE in the first place, for us to respond to.

It seems a bit below the belt responding to Nick after he's been banned, you could have responded to my point about speeding instead. I don't mean anything prejudice by this, but isn't an interesting coincidence that the two main people argueing that stealing street lights is wrong are both women? When there aren't that many women on this site. Seems like an interesting social curiosity, even more interestingly, one of the only crimes that women commit more then men is stealing.

Why is it interesting that I'm a woman who says stealing is wrong?It's how I was raised.I know what I should and shouldn't be doing.I've stated before that I had stolen in the past, when I was younger.I knew it was illegal.I didn't try to get people to see it my way.Don't make this a man-woman thing.I'm one of the least "femme" women you'd meet.I just don't try to gloss over the truth.I'm saying it is what it is.

It's not my fault he got himself banned, fdd warned him in the thread, plus you have to get 3 infractions before you get banned And what's interesting about the fact that me and Stoney are women? It's not like we're the ONLY one's who think stealing is wrong. There have been plenty of male members who stepped in to say that they think stealing is wrong. Go back and reread
Most people were content to state what they think of stealing, and leave. We're just being the most outspoken about it. What unusual behavior from two women

And there aren't that many women on this forum so it is a bit of a coincidence, and then I remembered that one of the only crimes women commit ore then men is stealing so I thought it was interesting. I didn't say the only poeple against stealing were women, I said that the main two people against it were women. I suppose it's just because women are generally more outspoken then men, like stoney said. By the way, I don't think I've ever stolen anything from anybody in my entire life, not even a street light, I was just saying that if someone did steal a street light I wouldn't care and wouldn't think it was as bad as you think it is.

I don't think stealing a street light is so terrible, but it's stealing, and it is wrong. Plus there's the fact that if you have to steal a light for your grow, you probably shouldn't be growing at this time.
Mostly I disagree with the main premise of this thread, that because the government steals from us, we can steal. Ok, our government steals from us. What do you want? A perfect government? Want to live in Utopia? Good luck with that.
Those are the First (blue), Second (red), and Third (green) world countries as of 1990. Notice how little of that map is blue. So my government isn't perfect? At least I was born in America, where I have rights. Where I CAN bitch about my government if I want to.
It'd be nice if we could live in a Utopian society. But there will always be people who would rather steal something than work for it. Even the question of this thread, isn't it ok to steal if they're stealing from us -- with that childish mind set we'd never get far.

We live in a democracy so we have the right to complain about something, if nobody complained then the government could do whatever they wanted and we wouldn't live in a democracy, so pointing out the governments faults is a good thing. That map is ridiculous, it looks like somebody just coloured all the countries they knew were developed blue, a couple of others red and the rest green, the falklands islands aren't the third world, neither is argentina, madagscar, south africa, half of the australasian islands, a lot of africa, peru, chilli, columbia, mexico, jamaica, loas, and a load of other places. Just because a country has some slums doesn't mean it's the third world, look at New Orleans.

The map is outdated, I already said so, but that's what was considered the third world as of 1990, which isn't that long ago.
