one thing ive learned is high temps really screw things up i try and stay at or below 78 at all times. if i switch to 1000w bulbs i will have to use covers. make sure to keep your cover very clean as dust and water droplets affect light penetration. i wonder if they make quartz or other crystal covers not much would be lost thru those materials?

yeah, i saw an aquaintences lenses were so dirty i was disgusted once. i wipe down my bulb occaisionally too since om pulling so much air over it. i bet you could get a crystal lens made, prolly cost your first born though.

i went way too long last time in between, i had a shitpot of teeny baby spiders dead in my hood. like a mini arachnid tomb.

there is no material currently accessible to allow 100% of light to pass through it, to be more exact things that have transparency are meta-materials, there is however research going on with a new crystallin structure called either a quasi(sp?) or quasar(sp?) i may be spelling it completely wrong lol, but they are a structure that is has no repetition but for some reason are able to make bonds...anyways the reason for rambling on these crystals is that it is believed that when an electrical charge is applied to these crystals they align in such a perfect structure to allow 100% transparency...but for now that is far from our reach.
if you are more interested on the subjected search meta-material in google.
thanks
