im going to make a hydro system completely and was wondering if i had a pump spray the nutes onto the roots at all times will it work or do i need to have it timed. if not could you explain it thanks.
making hydro will this work

yeah you probably need a timer with a mister to mist the roots, not sure how often this is done tho!!!

thanks, does anyone know why in dwc the roots sit in the water all the time but you need to time the jet stream?

dwc (deep water culture) is nothing more than a bucket of water and a couple of airstones. the bubbles works as aero, they splash water and nutes up to the net pots, and the roots hang in the highly oxeygenated res water.

so the roots are not really siting in the the nutes/water its more of them getting splashed by it?

IN a good DWC, the roots dangle in oxygen enriched water, with the water being oxengenated with air stones. Only prob is getting those roots to start and feeding them until they reach the water. .
With a DRIP system, you have an underwater pump pumping a flow of water to each cup, thru small tubes, on the lid or cover of the reservoir tank..
In a Bubbleponic System, you pump bubbling water to each rockwool cube in each cup, under the lid or cover.
All of the DRIP and Bubbleponic Systems I have seen, NO timer was used, the water and nutes were pumped 24/7, or at least until the roots grew enough to reach and enter the water.
In my humble opinion, a Drip or Bubbleponic System combined with a DWC system is the MOST effiecient for a FAST grow. It really starts those sprouts growing fast.

thanks roseman i started to read your bubbleponics. i like your advice and finally someone who understands that we all cant use HIDs. CFLs are where its at i might try t5s once i get some cash

I personally think that you should spray the roots pretty much constantly, because they are dangling they will be getting more than enough oxygen. Spray them full time.
With drip irrigation like roseman said, I personally would have them on a timer as you can quite easily oversaturate the rockwool which will slow growth down. With rockwool you want it to be moist enough and not soaked otherwise the roots wont be getting enough air.

Whether its a Top Flow DRIP System, or a Bubblewponics System, you are pumping water from the resovoir and it is rich in oxeygen bubbles. I've never seen a timer used for either. You just flow the nutes and water to them 24/7. It is just a trickle of water, and as it runs down, the roots will follow the flow of water.

I run a top flow drip irrigation, believe me less is more i tried it 24 hours and they plants started showing signs of overwatering, i tried it every few hours. I found twice a day for half hour worked really well.

i guess everyone has there own way and evidence to backup there way is the best haha. well i have everything to make the system in my shop but the net pots. there is a store down the road from my house called SEA OF GREEN and its a hydro store uhm sounds like the right place to go for my sog grow

im not quite sure the only thing i could think of is that people think they give too much water but really arent supplying enough oxygen so they cut back on water lus giving more oxygen and then thinking that was the problem when really they could of use the same amount of water just giving more oxygen. do you concur?

very easily, with an ebb n flow anyway. I had put clay rocks ontop of my rockwool, and was watering 3 times a day. All the rocks were preventing my cubes to drain properly, and my leaves were suffering. I got rid of them and they are doing better now. I didnt consider this a newbie mistake because I didnt expect that to happen. Overwatering can happen in any medium if you ask me.

just keep a good supply of oxygen to the roots and you wont have to worry
