Yep good idea. Not the first time I've seen it done, but still good.

Just fyi though you could get a lot more lumens out of that light if you changed it to a horizontal orientation and made a batwing reflector instead. A WHOLE LOT MORE.

That reflector is very inneficient anyway, on top of the fact that bulbs run vertically put out less lumens per watt because they don't run as efficiently. Plus the way the bulbs are designed to begin with they don't really throw 50% of the light off the end as they do off the sides, they're made to radiate light from the side, not the end.

You can still use the light mover....

Yeah, i would love to make it horizontal, but i don't want to shell out cash on a new bulb and I'm not sure if i can hang this bulb that way; being it came with the base up. I just ordered a 1k that is already vertical. In time i will get a new bulb for it.

that's a great idea brother. we must be brothers from another mothers. never knew your thread existed...until I posted one of my own. then some killjoy, lol, had to let me in on the secret...another fan powered light mover...
nice idea to use a lever. a stationary fan, with a rod welded to the center, of one of those 'grandpappy' fans, metal, could run belts or pullies(ys?), made to move the light...in greater distances. of course, more $ and effort would be needed, lol. fts!
anyway, I make a link, to your thread, in mine...and vice versa.

does your fan still function as a fan...blowing air around the room?
my design works like a windmill, blown by the fan, connected to the ceiling, swinging
more than 6ft, in a semi-circle...180 degrees, then back again...to start all over.

i have something kind of like this but it is a fan mover/ light cooler . i have a 4 ft light rail with 600 watt. and a normal oscilating fan 3 speed on a chain hanging from the cieling near the middile of the light rail. i am then going to hook a little chain on to the light mover and then on to the fan.so then the fan will atomatically follow the light as it moves back and forth. ive realised circulating air is a big issue becuase i wind burnt the shit out of my leaves i have no pics but the fan is far enough so it goes throw the flanges and blows air down at plants.

Right on man sick idea, what about a light mover for your light that moves it up and down, i have been thinking of somthing but have not tried anything yet. I have seen one thread when a guy took a power screw driver to make his lights go up and down, and another was with some pullys but i cant find the threads. Every one needs to get together and lets build a really good light mover motorized or not and then put it all in a DIY adjustable light mover. hahaha well i hope this works its all about working together :mrgreen: bongsmilie
