yes, this is the idea. i dont have the time, or gas, to water every 3 days this summer. every 3 weeks sounds a little betterso you dont have to go up as often with water, but you have to carry a lot more up when you do go?
total, its about $60-$70.what a good idea. this is perfect for the area im going to be growing. how much did everything cost you. i cant seem to find any 55gal drums though :/ only difficult part so far.
well one would assume so, but the water pressure should mainly be based upon how high above the plants it is. i haven't confirmed this yet but i am going to check when the season comes approaching.sweet idea
just a question: when the res is almost empty, the pressure of the water will be less than when it starting...... so do you need to feed the plants for more minutes?
thanks for sharing knowledge!!!!
yes, this is why i plan on feeding directly to the plants once every 2-3 weeks or so with a strong solution. I have decided that i will visit the plot once every 2 weeks to feed the plants with an organic tea.well first a hiya my first post, i just started outdoor growing and this sounds like a great idea, but wouldn't the nutrient sediment all go to the bottom of the barrel not long after you add it ? i have a spray bottle for the young ones and i find i have to give it a good shake each mourn
Been reading about different watering systems, and your is very close to what I liked the best. I plan to use 4 or 5 30-gal rubber maid storage containers, grey in color w/ cammo over them, sitting in underbrush. At the end of each hose, a shut-off valve. Once container is full, open each valve carefully, until I get about 1 drop per 10 seconds, then walk away. But I like the batt. operated timer. If the nutes settle, big deal. When you fill up again, they will remix, or use a stick. Orange, check out zeolite at dirtdoctor, com. Good Luck Dude.
