what are good nutrients/fertilizers?

the guy im learning from uses so many diff kinds that it confuses me and hard to remember..

stuff like voodoo juice, earth grow juice, prop o gator and stuff like that..

is there something thats simple like 1 bottle i use that has all the nutrients for the grow and another for the flowering stage?

or is using all those diff ones better?

Yes ... if you are in soil, forget all the fancy stuff. Here's some great ferts for you:

For vegging use: Peter's "Jack's Classic" 20-20-20.

For flowering use: Peter's "Jack's Classic Blossom Booster 10-30-20.

Use these at only 1/4 strength throughout your grow and you will have beautiful plants producing great buds.

would i beable to use the hydro nutrients for soil aswell? or would it be bad for the plant?

Jack's Classic is my favorite plant fertilizer. IMO, as long as you mix in a generous amount of dolomite lime into your soil blend,thats all you need!
If you can't get Jacks, I have had good results with Miracle Grow for tomatoes for veg, And I like Peter's super blossom booster for flowering. Miracle Grow Bloom booster is good also....just use in very dilute mix.

That is pure puffery and nonsense^^^^

IMHO, expensive fertilizers are a waste of money.
I have been growing buds for a very long time and have tried almost everything available until I realized I was simply wasting money.
The best results I have obtained are from simple fertilizers.
lol,lol my buds are not frosty, because I use Jack's....hahah

Sorry Wes, you have absolutely no idea of what you are speaking, and are obviously shilling for an inferior overpriced product!


Here is an unfrosty plant which ate only Miracle Grow Tomato and Peter's Super Blossom Builder.
The outdoor plants were fed only Jack's

Vi, would you put jacks against foxfarm and advanced? I use gorw big 6-4-4 for veg and I get about 3 inches every week of tight nodes. plants are 8" now with like 7 sets of nodes off the main stalk. I get about 1 1/2" in the first day of giving nutes and around 1 - 1 1/2" for the rest of the week. if you say it is good, I might try it for my flowering. I rock Kool Bloom and am interested in switching. was looking at foxfarm open sesame and beestie bloom for density. drop me a line so we can talk about it. PEACE!

Well, we are talking about a soil grow here and not a hydro grow. I started out as a soil grower and used a multitude of different fertilizers over the years. The Peter's "Jack's Classic" series ended up as my favorites.

I've used Advanced Nutriets for my hydro growing, and to be very honest, I don't like it. The first grow, AN mislabled the ratios on the bottle and all my young plants died. Needless to say, that was expensive. If you use all the nutrients in their line, which they promise will produce a ton of pot from one plant ... ha ha ... you would be spending around $500.00 per grow on their nutes. In my honest opinion, AN is less in the nutrient business ... and more into the money business.

There are more simple ways and much less expensive ways to grow hydro and get stellar results.

You can use a two-part General Hydrophonics plan:

Just buy a bottle of GH Micro (brown) and a bottle of GH Bloom (red). Do not buy the GH Grow (Green).

0-5-10 for vegging.
0-8-16 for flowering.

Vegging: 0 grow/5ml Micro/10ml Bloom Flowering: 0 Grow/8ml Micro/16ml Bloom

Simpler yet is what I use now:

Pure Blend Pro. Use 15ml per gallon of RO water for vegging.
Use 15ml per gallon of RO water, plus 5ml of CalMag for flowering.

You can buy both the PBP "Grow" and the "Bloom." Use the "Grow" during vegging and the "Bloom" during flowering. OR ... you can just do as a friend of mine does and use the "Bloom" for both vegging and flowering. Now, before you say it won't work, my friend grows some of the tastiest pot I've ever smoked ... and he does it consistantly.

Wes, I've tried the AN for several crops and the results were nothing special.

Except I spent 8 times as much money.

I will say something good about AN, they have great marketing.

i started growing using GH but a friend recemended me try using advanced nutrients.all the products were a bit pricy i used these nutes for about 2 crops and wasnt very satisfied for the price i paid so now im back with general hydroponics.and wes AN isnt the only nutrients out there that are "specified" for growing marijuana with years of research.almost all hydroponics nutes are for marijuana:mrgreen: and can be used in soil as well.i do recomend floranova grow and bloom for new or novice growers tho i simply just followed the ratio on the bottle and my ph is always what it should be and my plants seem to love the nutes.i also use dark energy and supernova as additives so it might be them too:bigjoint:

i dont reccomend AN to anyone.

Oddly enough, I stopped into the hydro store the other day and the AN rep was there. I was introduced to the rep by the store owner as "The only guy in the world who has failed when using AN nutes." Now if that wasn't rude, I don't know what rude is! Anyway, I asked the rep why AN mislabels the ppm on their labels. He asked me what I was talking about. So I told him that I just started a new cycle and was vegging with AN Bloom part A&B. At the amount I used, the label said my ppms should be right at 800 ... and the actual reading came out to be 1280. He said that was impossible. So, I asked the store owner (who uses AN) if he had any opened A&B Bloom. He got the opened bottles and we drew some water from his RO unit. BWAaaa! Came right out to 1280 ppm. Lesson learned here guys is ... if you are going to fall for the AN hype, reduce the suggested amounts on the labels by 1/3.

hey wes...seriously man are you a sales rep for AN?...not trying to offend you or anything but you are really pushing the an products...i've used an, as a matter of fact i used AN's bud blood to induce flowering, and overdrive around the 4th-5th week of flowering, i did get nice buds but i didn't see anything dramatic that would make me stop using FF, i ended up selling it to a friend of mine for half of what i paid for it. that was my personal experience with AN.

Awesome post guys. I was kind of sold on the AN but after reading this I pretty confused which nute to use as GH is quite expensive too! And we don't have much options in Australia for the awesome range of hydroponic nutrients too

. I'm currently using "DM one" for veg which will be the very last time as it not only pongs like shit I was turned off DM as their so called bigbud product was recalled and prior to this happening the Dutch Master sales rep stating that it's the best nute on earth today! lol

I'm using worm castings all the way through. My plants were attacked by squirrels, so they're lagging a bit in growth, but they healed themselves quickly. I have lots of container plants growing outside as well and all my flowers are going crazy. I have been told (and would like more opinions on this, please) that worm castings are all the fertilizer you need all the way through. If my other plants are any indication, the stuff is gold.

Way to drag up ancient history.

I'm not sure I'd base too much off these old posts. Things have changed a bit since then. GH has been jacking up their prices pretty steadily for quite awhile, for example.
