Can A Mother Plant Last As Long As 12 Years?

I was recently having a convo with a buddy and he said that a mother plant can last as long as 12 years only with water, soil and light

Is this true?

I know people have kept them for quite a few years but does anyone know if this info is correct? 12 years is a long time for 1 mother plant

as long as you can keep the plant healthy it should live as long as you want it to indoors..

No, that is wrong as it would need nutrients as well and also need to be indoors in a controlled environment.

Yea I was meaning light as in hps, I should have wrote a bit clearer tho, but providing it had nutes then are you saying it would be able to last as long as 12 years?

I have a plant that goin on 2 years now so I dont see why not just keep trimming and making clone and keep the mother grow small

You could keep a plant alive until the end of time under the right conditions. I don't see why you couldn't. I'm no pro though, yet.

Twelve years? I'm sure this is possible but most people will flower out the mother plants every 6 months or year or so... Once my mothers are a decent size I throw them in the flower room, this is also after I've taken more clones and so the mother is just replaced with another clone which is really just the same plant that you started with in the first place.

alot of people have been talking about old plants lately, i heard of one plant that was over 20 years old, it was outside and the guy said he couldnt even hug the meristem.
another guy has an uncle in hawai who gave him a picture of him standing on a branch and holding the meristem, like a tree. its deffinately possable but it would get fuckin huge, the only way i could see it happenening on purpose is if it was bonzaid out and the roots trimed regularly to keep it small. or at least smaller...
