Fluffy finished product..Weak potency

I dont wanna leave too long of a detailed thread....in a nut shell...1st time grower....... 400 watt MH for vegetation, and 450 watt hps for flowering. Ten Big Bud plants....followed all the proper steps etc.

My questions are regarding the finished product.
They are curing now....in jars
They are fluffy and don't weigh much (i.e. a half looks like a full O)
There was approx 2 Os per plant (4-5ft high)
POTENCY.....not too good.
There are crystals, but I tried the product and wasn't pleased.
Smell.....not too good either...hayish smell

How do improve for the next time? I want denser, rounder, more potent buds to show for all the work ya know?

I was thinking the light bulb cud be upgraded to 1000w for my hps to improve density , yield, etc, but there are plenty of people on here that do just fine with 450w hps.
I know finishing the curing process will improve smell a little. Will it really make that big of a difference improving potency though?

You don't need a bigger light but you may have had your light too far away.

Also, buy new seeds, genetics are everything and you must have gotten some real crap seeds or it's just because big bud sucks ass.

I've ended up with fluffy buds before and I also use a 400w system. Its definately the genitics and I agree with Oregon about getting new seeds. My last grow of serious seeds AK47 was freaking amazing. Maybe thats a strain to look at. Easy to grow but it stinks really really bad.

Yeah if you can get some really good odor control I would recommend Super Skunk seeds. From what I have heard they are a big potent yield and from what I have smoked it is my favorite bud... AK47 is good too, but it's getting pretty common now.

thanks but genetics cant be the only problem...im sure people on here have had more luck and better finished product with BigBud

who did you get the seeds from? I grew out a bag seed from afgooey. The smoke was completely non-potent even after dry and cure. The bud I got it from was great... so who knows.

big bud is your problem i believe. It produces huge fluffy buds like you described and its so-so on the potency.

Try something like northern lights. Super dense buds and good potency. AK-47 is kick ass also.

When you have good genetics it is much much easier.
It sounds like you want high potency that is hard to do with bad seeds.
I thought it was common knowledge that big bud was so so.....bad.

First off the potency comes with age when drying weed something special is going on between the Chloroplast and THC as the chloroplast dies the THC matures and become more potent and its BIG BUD no promises of extreme potency only that the bud will be BIG (Fluffy)

i'll agree i just ebb and flowed 28 big buds under a 1000w, very disappointed. Large fluffy buds, had a few mold in late flowering. I harvested with about 10% amber. The high could be better.....alot better, i've got 24 more in the same setup gonna wait til 50% amber this time......we'll see

heavy duty fruity ... those buds scared me
but smell is a definate problem .. but weight was super...dense and heavy had to tie them up

Thanks guys....I like to take one hit, hold it in, and really feel it when exhaled. When it expands in ur lungs---one hit does damage ya know?
Potency is my main concern. Density too.
AK-47 or NL may have to be next..Has anyone tried Nebula? saw some that was great....
Shall i take a flamethrower to these dam BB clones....lol

Nirvana was where they were bought.
10 weeks flowered..(50-60% amber hairs)
Properly dried and currently curing

You probably needed to let them go a couple more weeks, i thought you need at least 90%...

What about lots of cross breeze's and a small amount of induced stress I was told that this will help keep your bud's nice & tight is this true?

Save them for breeding f1's have superior vigor.
