Doesn't it seem important that you get your point across?
Doesn't it seem important to be heard and understood?
Do you like sounding like a child?
Is it fun to be treated like an idiot, even when you think different?

The point of this thread is to throw a concept out there and see who else feels the same way. In a world of written words, even words written by stoners and potheads, shouldn't we try to keep some sort grammar and syntax in our writings? This isn't to say that we need perfect spelling, but is it to much to ask for some punctuation in our threads. The forum is here so we can learn and share ideas; how can we expect people to understand what we are teaching, or for that matter what we are asking, if we as a community can't put the words we typed up in a coherent order? I doubt this thread will make it very long, but if you agree with what I'm saying give it a bump so others can read it.

I totally agree with you man. It isn't a big deal if someone simply has a typing error. When people make no effort at all to make it a coherent piece of information it annoys me. I do not have perfect grammar, nor do I claim to but i make and honest effort to be as literate as i possibly can be because that is really the only way anyone will be taken seriously

Here, here! Especially the part about not expecting perfect spelling. I actually had someone accuse me of "Cut and Pasteing" once (appearantly because I tend to use whole sentences).

I think nunof has the right idea here. Not talking about university level composition - just a quick readover of posts before submiting them is good enough of a "proof-read".

I see missing words all the time and words that are spelled "inside-out". Normally it's not that hard to follow along - but once in a while I find myself saying "WTF are they talking about?".

The truth is, the writer only has to lay it down once - but each and every reader has to decipher it on thier own. Multiply that by several hundred, or several thousand, readers and you could wind up with a lot of people scratching thier heads over what could be a "simple" statement.

Is it going to happen? I don't know, probably not! It is often said that "You are, what you eat!". That may, or may not, be true - but I think "You are, what you say!". Because our words are the only things that we really have around here!
