There are a few variables with the viability of pollen. One is reducing the moisture content and another is temps. Generally speaking, pollen is only viable for a few days at room temp. If you keep it dry and in an air tight container it can last you for quite a while. If you use some kind of desiccant and ensure its moisture free, then you can store it in the freezer forever. Now thats bonemans tech version, on the personal side, keep it in them containers for however long you wish and you'd be surprised how long it keeps.
I do think it degrades but reproduction is nature. Ever hear of shrimp in the desert after a rain? Ever hear the term "its raining fish"?
