Carbon Monoxide: Does it make Plants turn Female?

I have heard that if you blow carbon monoxide onto a seedling plant whether it be blowing cigarette smoke on it, or lighting a candle in the grow room (both of which contain carbon monoxide) . This is apparently meant to make your plant female.
And dont get me wrong, i tested this so called fact out by planting one ice seed. if left to grow using very basic/normal growing techniques, the plant has more than 50% chance of being a male.
So i went and planted one ice seed, blew some cigarette smoke on it when it was very young over a period of three days.
4 months later, i had three ounces of freshly picked sensimelia.
Could this plant have been female due to blowing carbon monoxide smoke onto it.
also i had topped the plant and it did go through mild stress, which i know also causes males, still the little girl battled on.
Can anyone prove this carbon monoxide theory theory?

No. Carbon monoxide is a poison for all living things. Carbon dioxide, like breathe with no cigarettes, does promote feminine growth. Sex can be influenced as soon as the second set of true leaves (not counting cotyledon) emerges all the way to about 3 weeks in growth. That's when sex is set in stone. Stress, like blowing carbon monoxide, promotes hermaphrodites, officially "intersex" plants. Nothing is for sure guarenteed to create females except feminized genetic breeding. Also, after sex is determined by the plant, further stress does two things. To be quite honest, I'm not sure the exact what of the plant, but I know the why. First, it increases resin content. 2nd, decreases overall potency. A higher resin content protects the plant from the stress of it's environment, but you end up getting damaged trichomes, less focus on THC production, etc. That's a little hazy and I wish I had a clearer explanation for you. But never blow carbon monoxide on a plant. And I find it hard to believe that a by-product of combusted wax is carbon monoxide, but I honestly don't know. I would say if it's present, it's entirely a negligible amount.

You can get carbon dioxide tanks at grow stores or home depot, etc. Generally, the 2nd most limiting factor for plant growth is carbon dioxide, 2nd to light. Use it, double growth rate and higher yield.

This is for those of you asking about where the literature came from. I dont know if this is where, but it would be the study of carbon monoxide on flowering plant growth. So before you go making people feel stupid by bashing their thoughts, you should make sure you know what you're talking about in the first place. sry, but you are not correct. co2 does nothing to promote femaleness, it only increases growth rate. CO is not toxic to all living things. quote 'The toxicity in humans and animals is caused by the extraordinary affinity of carbon monoxide for haemoglobin which is responsible for the oxygen transport'.
plants don't contain hemoglobin, so, is non-toxic to them. they will actually convert the co to co2, through oxidation.
CO discourages maleness. thereby allowing femaleness to have the upper hand, so to speak. dioecious plants such as MJ, contain the potential of both sexes in each plant.

personally, I am presently trying several of those methods to promote femaleness.
I have many seeds (35) in a large ziplock bag containing rinds/peels of cucumber, banana and apple. (Ethylene)
I'm designing a chamber to saturate seedlings (@3 wks old) with CO, source as yet undetermined, although, certainly not tobacco. possibly kerosene combustion.

you're talking about burning a candle. red, orange and yellow flames all produce co, co2, and other hydrocarbons, all of which can kill you, but are harmless or beneficial to plants. a blue flame is clean/cleaner burning...little or no CO, but still produces co2.
co2 generators burn kerosene, propane or natural gas to produce co2...in greenhouses.
candles don't 'burn' wax. they burn a wick, the wax only melts and drips down.
however, 'a candle' is not sufficient co2 to do anything, there is little or no CO.
100 candles might raise the co2 levels...lol

to turn seeds female. . .it is said . . .that ethylene promotes female induction in seeds. so place your seeds into a bag with a green banana(s) till the banana(s) turn brown. the seeds with absorb as much ethylene as it can and grow female. . . .look it up and try it. . . i haven't had seeds for a while so i cannot try this one.

fyi- the majority of the wax melts and oxidizes into the burn...the wax dripping down only represents the ones that got away.

anyone kno any decent research on co? the stuff above consists of one very old scientific report of definite value- the others were suspect.

And I'm bumping it back into today again! I exhaust my grow room to the outside and am considering heating the space with a forced air propane burner. I figure that because I'm constantly exhausting the air I wont have to worry about unsafe levels of co2/co for humans,but was unsure of the effects of co on the plants. I b.c. appreciate the past input and hope you are all growing strong
