just a question i have seen people grow in 2 litre bottles and get like an ounce a plant.


if you have a twin 400w reflector that has the dimensions of 100cm by 50cm

and soda bottles have a diameter of 10cm that means you could fit 50 under one unit.

how much do people think this could yield starting all from clones at 12/12, using co2 and the right ferts?

I was getting 7-14 g. dry per plant back when I was doing NL in 2liter bottles. The higher yields came when I switched to RO water and hempy 2 liters with straight perlite. Under dual 400's back then. I would run between 30-40 bottles at a time, either flower straight from rooted clone or 12/12 from seed if I was bringing in new genes.

reverse osmosis water + GH nutrient Lucas formula + hempy bucket 2liters = happy plants :-)

what are the benifits of having a drainage hole 2 inches from the bottom, this would leave water in the bottom 2 inches that would be bad for the roots???

I can't see how that could possibly benefit anything. The whole purpose of drainage is to allow excess liquid to drain away once the medium becomes saturated, without drainage holes at the bottom it will just collect and probably cause root rot. In the best case scenario it would drastically increase the chances of overwatering.
Is this an idea you had or have you seen it in someone elses grow?

With hempys you water every day or every 2 days, the water in the bottom isn't stagnant long enough to cause any issues. When you water/feed, you infuse a ton of oxygen down to the root zone and flush any extra water out...which usually isn't there as the roots have absorbed everything.

I'll get some pics up soon. Apologies for getting this thread into a hempy area...was just trying to offer my advice for 2 liter style growing which works.

a catch pan is the same idea.

i use buckets for dirt, holes drilled 1.5'' up from the bottom. this allows the soil to wick the water, preventing dry spots in the soil (which if you've done a lot of dirt, you know what i'm talking about...) the soil absorbs the excess, so you get a more "ground type" soil moisture; dryer at the top, wetter the further down you go. since going this route, my soil yields have gone up 25%.
