Clippin leaves question

Someone told me to clip the dead leaves off my plant bcuz it can spread to the healthy leaves...so does it matter how i cut them off?Someone also tld me if u clip it wrong the whole plant could die...do i clip the leaf off or from the leaf stem to the whole plant stem?

Remove the dead leaves at the base of the stem. You remove the dead leaves so the plant can focus on staying healthy not trying to repair leaves that are beyond there point.
