So I read this article from Cracked.com about different ways to "get high" without the use of narcotics and one of the examples was binaural sound. So I further looked it up on Wikipedia and found some tracks to see if it will work. Supposedly you listen to these tracks of beats that are separated by no more than 30 Hz in frequency through stereo headphones. What happens is that one sound wave is introduced only to one ear and the other is introduced only to the other. Because they are so similar in frequency, they trick the brain causing outcomes such as relaxation, increased focus, and alertness to more extreme feelings like hallucinations, out of body experiences, and "vision quests."
I wanna see if it works and was wondering if other people wanted to join me. I'm first gonna listen to a couple of tracks (one from Wikipedia) for about 10 minutes and see what happens. Then I'm gonna get high and try it again.
I get the feeling it's going to be disappointing, but what the hell, right? If binaural sound really created hallucinations I think I would have heard about it by now, although apparently very little research has been done on these sounds. It could be fun though, and maybe it will be cool while I'm high. Besides, I'm in the mood for experimentation.
I'll post a couple of updates. Anyone else in?
