can a plant go through all the stages with a couple CFLs? im growing about 4 plants, just wondering if i need to get other lights.

i dont exactly have the money for either....
will they die? or just keep growing even though they are in 12/12 lighting? or will the buds just not be as big, etc.

Affliction... What's up - Dude you can absolutely veg and flower you plants with cfl's. If you've got the money, the space, the ventilation, etc., OF COURSE go with HID. If not, just do your homework, man! CFL's have come a LONG way, and will only get MORE powerful and cheaper as their popularity grows. You need to make sure you're using the correct spectrum cfl's: 65K/"Daylight" for vegging, and 27K/"Warm White" for flowering. However, there's no getting around the plants basic light needs, especially with cfl's. 4 lights for 4 plants?? Unless you're working with some high powered cfl's, that will NOT be enough. If you're in 12/12 already, well... Good luck man! Of course your plants will bud, and they certainly won't DIE, unless you kill them... You'll just be wasting your time, and your precious plant's resources. The beautiful thing about CFL growing is that one can start with a TINY investment, and keep adding lights as the grow goes on. Dude, a 3 pack of 26 watt 27K cfl's at Walmart is like 7bucks... You've gotten this far, and this is the MOST IMPORTANT TIME! Find some cash. Get a couple clamp lights, a couple Y-splitters, and some 27K bulbs. You'll be much happier in the end! Good luck man, Peace!

yeah my plants arent even close to flowering stage yet, seeing as how they are only 6 days in haha, but i wanna be prepared
thanks Jazzman, i plan on going out tomorrow and getting a couple more lights and Y-splitters, i would have more lights now i just didnt have any Y's

step away from the grow room ceasar coz you dont know fck all. I know its the net and freedom of speech and all that ... but giving advice when you really have no clue isn't helping anyone.
jazzman pretty much summed it up.
I'll just add - dont be afraid to mix the lights up when flowering. Doesn't have to be exclusive 27k bulbs. A few 65k's scattered amongst the red helps produce the perfect spectrum that MJ loves.

CFL's work well from start to finish. CO2 kicks them in the butt, too.TLC and patience...
