i worked at a mini storage doing some remodel work. the owner had a renter of a shed and the guy hadnt paid rent in about 4 months. so he called to coppers in to open the shed. bunch of stuff in there along with about $200,000 cash. they already had the guy in custody for months thats why he didnt pay rent for the shed.

The owner laughs about it but i know he wishes he woulda just cut the lock on the shed.

some places will monitor elec use. so you need a place you can pay your own bill. The storage place will start to look at why they use double the elec in one unit over an other. Then they will think you have a problem and go check.

Next is water you need a lot of water same issues as elec.

Last is smell and light leaks more ways to make people come to see what you are doing.

If you can address these then why hot?

We rented a storage unit once for storing some furniture after a move.. It didnt have any electrical outlouts though..
Anyone that is hard up enough to grow pot in a rent-a-shed is just plain dumb. sry, but thats just the truth. Now, if you are legal and have a med card and can grow legally, im not sure about the law about where you can grow.. But if someone wants to rent a space to grow I wouldnt think they would be legal. I mean damn, the smell, power, lights, water all that shit will be SOOOOOOOO hard to hide ,why would anyone even consider it?

And this is why I asked.

Thanks for all the comments. I ask b/c my grow had to be shut down and I just flat out can't afford to buy the shit anymore. And it's the only thing that keeps my back spasms at bay!

If I were a religious man I'd say god is testing me. But I'm not, so I must be pro-active.

True, true.

I will say this though, I would not be afraid of growing in an apartment at all. But I live in a house and rent/utilities split w/ 3 others can't be beat. But someone is on probation for a DWI now and I can't grow my plants for another 13 months now.

I had a buddy who managed a storage place. There was a little apartment above the office he lived in with his wife. He grew stuff in one of the units he "rented" out to some ficticious person. So, if you know someone like that and you trust them not to rip off your plants, talk them into letting you use a space under a fake name and get a lot of odor control so no other renters call the cops. Otherwise, not a good plan.

OK then... instead of bashing the idea, let's think of ways to make it work.

One idea for sure is to do it under a fake name.

Now let's hear some more workarounds!

find one that lets you pay your own electric ...pay your bill on time... rent the largest space they have get a giant wooden shipping crate(s) with one side hinged and padlocked... grow inside them with air scrubbers and leave no traces of anything... so if the owners open up the stroage unit they could not legally open them up unless court ordered or you did not pay your bill even then it would be sold at auction and who ever won would get one hell of a surprise

What does your buddy with the probation have to do with you? I mean if you grew covertly at home in a locked wardrobe cabinet or something and he didn't even know about it. Can someone search your room?

shit if you own the storage units and you are the one who manages it all then by all means that would be sick cuz you could keep that shit under wraps but if you are just renting a spot and hoping the dude doesn't notice then you are an idiot
